I can promise that I will never hold it for more than a second or two. And I dont plan on using many fakes. My thought was if i get crushed gloveless, i might see if you let me use the glove?

Dominic why dont we get together and play a little and you can get a feel for how it works. It is different and takes a little getting used to.

LOL...I shot my mouth off without thinking...after some thought on the matter no way am I taking this bet! I'm way past my prime, haven't played in alomst a decade, and I KNOW I'm being hustled! So call me a pussy, but I'm backing out!

But I've been wanting to start playing tennis again, so I'd love to hit some balls around with you...although I'm not sure how challenging it'll be for you!

BTW, even though 2p2 as a forum failed miserably, I hope you keep us updated on your games against Gus and others.

Why hasn't anyone pointed out how immoral it is that kenthecow has been reg'd on 2p2 for over a year, made over $200k, and yet all 11 of his posts are from the last month, with 10 of them being about playing Nick in tennis.

Hustling at tennis = immoral
Leeching off forums for personal benefit = moral
Only using forums to set up a match were you think you're the prohibitive favorite = moral

[/ QUOTE ]
I didn't even notice his reg date. That's pretty bad, and its that kind of stuff that makes me seriously consider not posting in strategy forums at all.

So basically Ken, you would love to take this guy's money playing against him with a racket when he gets to only use his hands--let me guess, because you thought you were a heavy favorite. Had you investigated and found this to actually have been the case, you would have followed through and won the money. But, since you learned that the odds aren't what you initially thought they were, you pulled out of this bet.

In other words, you accepted the bet in the first place with the idea of completely freerolling Nick for his money. Who's the scammer here? I don't think it's Nick.

[/ QUOTE ]

SOOOOOO true.

There's nothing more immoral than welching on a bet in this profession. If some sucker does it, that's a risk of gambling, but if a "pro" does it, YSSCKY.

Ken and bz and even poor Dominic got hustled. Now they should play for some amount. Why not just take the glove side, if it's such a lock? (Obv, Nick will hustle them somehow that way, but, still.)

A gamblers word is his life. I certainly hope no-one every thinks of staking or loaning these two "genius" stanford dorks. They might moral you out of your money.

disgusted,

Damn, I'm about the most gullible person in the world, yet I knew the shell game is a con.

Besides, almostbusto wins the analogy part of this thread for his HU tournament analogy.

[/ QUOTE ]

Do you guys think the shell-game street performers are moral? Because I certainly do not. And the analogy between that game and this game is now a perfect analogy.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think trying to distinguish hard lines of morality when you play this game for a [censored] living is pretty silly, honestly. We're not engaged in a moral profession here; we play in a game where we intend to prey on the weaknesses of others, whether in the moment (tilt, ego, drunkeness) or in general (stupidity, inexperience).

The game we play is about exploiting weaknesses in our opposition; this is exactly what Nick was doing, and will attempt to do in the future. Now, hopefully, next time someone offers you a bet that seems too good to be true, you'll actually think about it rather than jumping in. All this hullabaloo about you trying to show how immoral what he did was, though, is nonsense. You're no better than he is.

Entity,

He feels, *sniff* , sad about that too. But at least his opponents have a CHANCE.

and (especially towards the end) held my own at least decently well.

I think I'm close to done though.

[/ QUOTE ]

If you ask any gambler you looked like a [censored]. The only people who would say you "held your own" are accountants, lawyers, dentists, whatever your dad does, and other people without backbones.

You print this thread up and take it to the Bellagio in Las Vegas and show it to anyone in the poker room and they will say you are a piece of [censored]. Maybe you "held your own" in some world where your mother holds your hand til college and you have been sheltered since the age of 3, but in the real world all you did was let everyone know your word is worthless and therefore you are worthless.
