All right, one more: preflop in No Limit, do you size your raises based on some formula/position (a la the little green book) or based on "what you want to happen" with some randomization thrown in (a la NLHETP)? I'm still experimenting myself -- the little green book method is easier as a beginner, but Ed & David's way seems like more fun...

[/ QUOTE ]

I have been doing "standard" type raises, but am starting to vary it WRT what I want to happen a little bit. standard way is a nice intro and then i think varying comes with experience

[/ QUOTE ]

GENERALLY keep them smaller up front and bigger towards/on the button regardless of cards.

--What should I drink in Vegas (still waiting )

Not having been to Vegas recently, and never having been to a club there, I really don't know which bars I'd trust to make my favorite drinks. Some of them, I'd still be prolly have to tell the bartender the recipe. However, here are a few things you can count on:

Manhattan. A true classic cocktail you should be able to get anywhere. Make sure they don't give it to you on the rocks, however.

I think I heard the Wynn poker room serves Fat Tire, a really great beer. If you play there, pick it up. You might also check out what other sorts of beer they have.

I think there's also a microbrew in one of the casinos, but I don't remember which. I'd definitely want to hit that up and try their offerings.

If you want to give gin another shot, get yourself a gin gimlet. It's gin and sweet lime juice, and is another simple classic that any bar will be able to make.

Another good one to try is a Gin Buck, which is gin, lime juice, and ginger ale. Really, though, you're probably better ordering it as "Gin and ginger ale with a lime squeeze, please." If you don't like gin, you could get a drink called a Horse's Neck, which is whiskey, ginger ale, a twist of lemon, and sometimes a dash of bitters.

--Can you give me 3 more drinks with which to use Irish Whiskey? I tried 1.5 oz + 2.5 oz sour mix & soda, and it was OK.

Irish Rose: 2 oz Irish Whiskey, 0.5 oz lemon juice, 0.25 oz grenadine. Shake vigorously with ice, strain into a cocktail glass, garnish with a lemon squeeze.

Michael Collins (Tom Collins's brother): Take 2 oz Irish whiskey, 1 tsp superfine sugar, and 1 oz lemon juice, shake them with ice and strain them into a Collins glass (tall, narrow cylinder) with ice. Top with 2 oz soda water. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and either an orange wedge or a lime wedge.

Homemade Irish cream: Put all of the following into a blender

* 14 oz sweetened Condensed milk
* 1-3/4 cup Irish whiskey
* 4 Egg
* 1 cup Cream
* 2 tblsp Chocolate syrup
* 1 tblsp instant Coffee (powder)
* 1 tsp Vanilla extract
* 1/2 tsp Almond flavoring / extract

Blend until smooth. Let it sit in your fridge for a day, and then serve. Sometimes I rinse out the can of condensed milk with a little more whiskey, making sure I get all the milk, and making it stronger. This drink is very, very bad for you, but it is extremely tasty.

--What is your real motive at starting this thread?

Not sure. See what happens? Because it was cool in SSNL? Certainly not to set off drama bombs with Evan .

--What would it take to get the Microposter session back?

Forum interest.

--Have you seen Porky's?

Haaawooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

--in your opinion, who shoulod be the next "well" poster?

I'd probably like to go with another veteran poster who's been seen posting in Micros recently, so either you, Aaron W., or bozlax.

--how much does your opinion in the matter actually matter?

I'm calling all the shots here, up to the point where someone says that they don't want to do it.

--do you tihnk posting "well" threas in the micros is woirthwhile instead of posting in small stakes or small stakes shorthanded?

I could see doing a SSSH well. Maybe we'll put your well there. I could certainly see alternating between the two since there's so much crossover in readership. I think I got some good questions here, so I think posting it here worked fine.

--wookie, I think miles really wants to be the next well poster, can you make it happen?

Yep.

--What's unyn?

While I may be walking into 3rd level sarcasm, it could also be that Evan just isn't as practiced in deciphering Drunkern-ese. I think he means NYU.

--Give us your top 7-10 posters in this forum and why

This is a real tough one, because a lot of the people I'd pick two months ago have started to move on.

I think there's no denying that Aaron W. should be on the list. He's consistently posting quality material. Benihana, too.

Aussie and Eeegah should be with their contributions in the session reviews and digests, respectively.

I think Bilgefisher and Befolder, while still fairly new, look like they'll probably own this forum in a few months time. They're putting in a lot of work here, and they've got more to do, but there's lots of potential.

Str8Fish, HouseCalls, Kerowo, Heilko (sp?) and yourself are also valuable posters here, not just for content, but for your manner on the boards here, too.

OK, guys, that wraps up this first issue of the well, but I might take on a few follow up questions if you're looking for clarification or something. Look for another one in a week or two, and if we put it in SSSH, I'll post here about it.

No I honestly didn't know what he meant. Why would he like me even though I go to NYU?
