Dear CMU,

Thanks for going for it on 4th and 8 on your own 40. That stuff helps my bet. Thanks.

Follow up edit, Thank you football for bouncing around perfectly for the BC guy to score a TD.

the chippewa coach, Brian Kelly, did a few really odd things in this game. The 4th and 8 was the dumbest thing I have seen in awhile. But, also putting in the 3rd qb, Brooks, when Lefevour was doing such a great job with 2nd and one at the BC 2 yard line was puzzling.

It's being reported Arkansas stud RB Darren McFadden could play on Saturday against USC. I think a 70-80% McFadden helps Arkansas A LOT, but how much? Enough to make +8 look better?

Gmae has slowed down. My parlay is looking not slick with that 43 over in this BC/CMU game.....

Score some points already.

I went downstairs to eat dinner, missing about 2nd half of 3rd quarter and 5 minutes of 4th quarter...

Score jumped from like 14-10 to 31-10....Awesome!

need one more point and BC to hold this lead...then the Temple Buffalo under looks like a lock....

Then only 2 more to go for that parlay...cmon BC.

Edit to add: Looks like the SC game is not going my way..so BC blowing this lead might not matter. hehe.

3 units - Fla Int'l +11 -110 at MTSU (Bowman's)
3 units - Toledo +7.5 -103 at Iowa St. (Pinny)
2 units - Miss. St. +7 -113 vs S. Carolina (Pinny)

2-1-0 +3.64 units YTD

Pretty nice start to the season... Fla Int'l was an easy winner. I was SO scared that Toledo was going to make me pay for guessing wrong about the line move... They looked like the right side as well; game was even as far as yardage and Cochran is clearly a stud (as is Bret Meyer; ISU O-line played surprisingly well too). I may not fade Iowa St. as hard as I had intended to early; Toledo is a really good team, so I'm kinda impressed with ISU's performance.

I watched the Miss St. game and am still not sure what to make of it. I don't think it was as much of a mismatch as the score indicated; every pivotal aspect just happened to go USC's way. Both teams have terrible PK's; USC's goes 3-3 and MSU's goes 0-1. MSU should have blocked a punt and gave up a huge gain instead. MSU also dropped a pass inside the USC 5 that would have led to some points. Once MSU missed the 4th down conversion and gave up the TD on the trick play, they looked pretty bad for the rest of the game, but I think they might have been able to sustain it a bit longer if demoralizing things didn't keep happening. But, that has to be expected to a degree when you are taking the worse team, so I definitely wouldn't call MSU a "right" side here.

As pathetic as MSU was, though, I think I would be pretty worried if I was a USC fan... MSU's O-line isn't that great, but they ran the ball pretty effectively, even against 8 or 9 guys in the box. USC's offense didn't look very good either. I'm OK with how the game turned out, because people are going to point to the final margin and think that this makes USC legit. Personally, I thought they looked like a second-rate team that is going to get throttled when they have to play real opponents (fortunately for USC, I don't know if the SEC East has any of those... ). But, before the season is over, I suspect that I'm going to fade USC a couple more times and end up recouping my losses from this game...

As a last note, I'm sure as hell not playing any overs this weekend. I thought all of the games FLEW by tonight. Should be good for underdogs also.

Well, I got off to a pretty good start on Thursday, finishing 3-1 and up 3 units. I didn't factor in the juice exactly, but I had UTEP at +110 for 2 units, so I think it came out pretty close to even.

All right, since I have my Thursday picks in here, I guess I'll put my picks for the rest of the week in here too. Some of these picks were made early in the week, but most of the lines are still readily available. I'm not quite set up for lineshopping yet, so all lines are from Pinnacle.

(Year-to-date: 3-1)

Louisville -11 1st half (3.5 units)
Texas -41 (3 units)
FSU/Miami under 40 (3 units)
Southern Miss/Florida under 47.5 (2.5 units)
Texas -22.5 1st half (2 units)
Utah +3.5 (2 units)
Georgia Tech +3.5 1st half (2 units)
Georgia Tech +248 (2 units)
Rutgers/North Carolina under 45 (1.5 units)
LSU -17 1st half (1 unit)
Auburn -14.5 (1 unit)
USC -8 (1 unit)

G-D push last nite. From CBS:

'Buffalo dominated, gaining 356 yards offense to Temple's 183. Trouble was, the Bulls couldn't score, coming away * without a point on three drives inside the Owls' 20.*

Buffalo freshman kicker Taylor Packwood, who missed two earlier field-goal attempts from 27 and 32 yards, opened the scoring with a 27-yarder with 7:38 remaining.

Temple failed to score on its overtime possession when DiMichele, facing third-and-16, forced a pass into the left flats that was intercepted by Jesse Imes.

Buffalo needed only four plays to score, when Starks followed his blockers on a sweep right and was untouched going into the end zone.'

So because they scored 2nd, I get screwed outta the XP for the cover. Nice. I love starting out this way.

0-0-1. 1 unit on Akron +17 tomorrow.
