Default Trips on a dry board, check or bet ?

Reads: Typical short-stack, pushing, playing tight blah blah blah.

Should I induce a bluff here, by checking or just bet ? Does checking the turn have any benefits here ? The board is really dry with few draws.

I bet 5$ and he folded. I thought he probably had a weak T or A8. May be checking the turn might have done the trick.

Umm, seems too weak. Is it because of the shortie button ? I just completed my SB, didn't raise.

linuxrocks, lacrymosa,

We've had many discussion about completing from the SB before. Msybe try to search or look in the digests.

Personally, I think the tighter you are the better. You have to play the entire hand OOP and you have a very very mediocre starting hand. Whats your plan on a K-high flop or instance?

i raise preflop ESPECIALLY at limits where i'll get called down light.

my plan on a K high flop is to bet the flop and turn, re-eval on river.

whats wrong with raising PF, leading the flop and folding to a raise or any sign of strength?

Hmmm... I'll pipe up here with what I think the right play might have been.

I think the call on the SB is fine, you have a marginal hand and just have to complete a quarter to look for a strong flop.

On the flop you have TPGK, so I would have bet heavier there just to attempt to end the action. You don't want to see a J/Q/A hit the board, and if you are going to see it you want to make him pay for it. A larger bet (say $2-3) would have taken in a small pot with no further confusion.

On the turn, if my flop bet were called, I would check to feign weakness and hope for a bet. And make a strong play on the river if he checked behind.
