Default AJo preflop

Party Poker 0.05/0.10 Hold'em (10 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Preflop: Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. MP1 posts a blind of $0.05.
1 fold, UTG+1 calls, 1 fold, MP1 (poster) checks, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, 2 folds, SB completes, Hero... check or raise ?

I decided to check cuz i was out of position and the pot was multiway. Im not sure how good AJ is multiway, esp out of position? I would´ve raised with AJs, though, cuz of the better multiway qualities. Comments, please

I believe a check is appropriate in that situation

I think there is a fair amount of value you lose by not raising.

You've got a pretty big equity edge here in all likelihood. I think raising is appropriate. In fairness, however, SSH has this as a check.

Not wanting to bloat the pot w/ a hand like AJ offsuit is understandable, but if you you have good control over the table, and your opponnents are weak or predictable postflop then you are missing value by not raising here. Yeah, your postition sucks, and you'll likely miss the flop, but you're also likely the current favorite, and you should try and charge your opponnents to outflop you. Just don't get attatched or overplay the hand on later streets and you will gain value over time raising this preflop.

Checking is fine too, and I will sometimes do this based on the game conditions, or my current image at the table.

Check. This is too many players and too weak a hand to bloat the pot.

That said, I would raise AQo or AJs.

party poker has .05/.10?

anyways i would check here, though at these stakes i wouldn't argue against a raise, though i think on balance a check is better.

In short, yes

The longer version is that Im making an exception to raising AJo preflop here when limped to me due to number of limpers who aint gunna fold if we raise. So Yes I am more inclined to check/limp it in the blinds but dont think of that as a rule. It all depends. Eg Ill raise to knockout the BB if and take the lead with few opponents but our hero in this spot is facing 5 opponents (including 1 poster) OOP.

I love to raise AJo when its limped to me when I have position but in this spot...I check it. Clear as mud?
