What's up the rebuys and add-ons for the three tournaments over Labor Day Weekend?
Did Dave make this decision? If so, why!?!?! Obviously, I think it blows and the majority of people I've talked to at CA don't like the rebuys/add-ons. I just can't figure out why they would change the format so drastically for one of their "big" tournaments. Of course, I'm still playing in all three, but I'm pissed I'm going to have to deplete my bankroll to pay for extra chips just so I can be on equal ground with the rest of the field. If you want a billion extra starting chips, go to Fort McDowell. Keep the tournaments at CA as they should be - no lame rebuys/add-ons! PS – Anyone won the bad beat yet? As of midnight last night it was still at $67,500. |

I just can't figure out why. Rebuys/Add-ons just make the tournament last longer. Dave sure as hell wants to get out of there quickly, and they don't want tables taken up on a holiday weekend when they could be raking live games.
Plus, with all those extra chips, will the Monday tournament even end in time for the 8pm "battle of champions"? Lame Lame Lame. |

So what is the buy-in/ structure like?
Also the nightly wed and thursday tournaments, do the stacks all start equal or do they give bonus chips for live play? (start with 2500??) |

They do not give bonus chips for the Evening tournys, only the am tournys.

It makes for a bigger prize pool and they likely are giving it a test run to see how it sells.
Edit to say: I just called CA. The jackpot is now $77,500. Last night I moved from 20-40 to 8-16 because of it. There is another $25,000 after 3 am and I may go down to play. On Tuesday and Wednesday I think there are also drawings for add-ons to the JP which may bring it to $125,000+ if it doesn't get hit by then. To folks unfamiliar with CA's JP: It's fairly easy to hit. Aces full of 10's or better beaten by 4 of a kind or better. Kicker must play. Sometimes it gets hit 3 times a day. The current size is extremely unusual. |

Problem is that it'll sell well just because it's a holiday weekend. So they'll assume they should do rebuys/add-ons all the time. Oh well.
As of 11 last night, badbeat jackpot still going. |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't play the tourneys very often but I've noticed that they don't sell out at 5:30 p.m. like they used to. Sometimes I hear them announcing seats open at 6:50. Likely they want to try changing things around. I understand your position. Play can be wild during the re-buy period and it takes a sophisticated tourney player (I'm not one of them) to know if the add-on is worth it in a particular situation. If they don't lower the initial buy-in it'll also dramatically increase the cost. [ QUOTE ] As of 11 last night, badbeat jackpot still going. [/ QUOTE ] $87,500 right now. |

$87,500 right now. [/ QUOTE ] NICE! I'll have to head over tonight after I get done with work. Here's a question for the CA regulars: Do you think proportionally, the jackpot is hit at 5-150 tables or the limit tables more often? I’ve heard arguments for both, and they both make sense. Just wondering what others thought. |

[/ QUOTE ] I can't imagine any argument for the 5-150 tables. It's got to be the 3-6 tables, because nine to a flop simply provides more opportunities for jackpot hands than three to a flop. Plus you can't bet a low limit player out of a hand. I'm the only moron in low limit history to fold pocket jacks when a third ace hit the river and Mr. Ace King bet one more time. |
