I don't understand why anyone lets this bother them.... I guess that's why it is a "pet peeve." If that is the biggest issue I had with the behavior of B&M poker players, the games would be very pleasant.

How about the players that yell "open seat", when the table is obviously full?

I don't mind the open seat yelling. I do get frustrated when we go to six, and one or two won't play because we are short handed....John Stossel (sp). Or even worse five handed and they won't play because there aren't enough for the bad beat, like we would win it anyway.

This is a huge pet peeve of mine. When I play 5-10 at Foxwoods there is without fail at least two old nits at the table who get their panties all up in a bunch if an empty seat is not filled within 2 seconds. They get all nasty toward the dealer even if the dealer has repeatedly notified the floor of the empty seat. It really amazes me, cuz even if these nits are afraid of playing short handed, there is no real noticeable difference between playing 9 handed and 10 handed. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that their blinds come around faster and they somehow think they are getting ripped off by only getting to see 7 free hands instead of 8.
I really feel like telling these people to STFU when they carry on. |

who gives a [censored] if they yell open seat, you sound like a nit for caring so much.
I'm more mad at players who refuse to play 5-7 handed...now that pisses me off. |

They can be mildly irritating at times. Alot of times these guys might be a bit stuck. And, as others said, they're really afraid of playing s/h.
But I think the idiots who constantly try to compare penis size on the table and berate other players are much worse if you really want to talk about irritating. But they all kind of fit into a big general category, along with the petty nits, as morons that make the game less enjoyable. Though it does add fuel to me in terms of wanting to kick the hell out of them on the table. I do get a perverse thrill when I'm running well and people are whining as a result. b |

I'm going to vote for more hands that one has to pay blinds. 8 free hands and 2 blinds is less expensive than 6 free hands and 2 blinds.

I'm going to vote for more hands that one has to pay blinds. 8 free hands and 2 blinds is less expensive than 6 free hands and 2 blinds. [/ QUOTE ] everyone at the table is paying the exact same amount of blinds as you. the only inherent disadvantage to playing shorthanded is that you have to play more hands, so it gives the better players a bigger edge. (this is also an inherent advantage for the better players, hence the popularity of 6-max among internet pros.) 9 handed compared to 10 handed changes very little. |

Assume three players are locals who freak out when playing short. Assume further that one person is walking at the moment. Now assume that you freak out when short and don't want to play, but you're stuck and you think you might suck at poker.
All that leads to fear of playing short and, at the worst, having your game break. Hence, OPEN SEAT!!!!!!! |

people shouldnt bitch and moan, but a lot of dealers dont tell the floor for several minutes and the floor themselves are lazy. when youre getting raked the same for 9 players as 7 and its not a percentage, it really eats away at you.
