Twist and Shout by the Beatles.

Wasn't there a thread like this in the temporary Music forum?

aside from Hendrix...

Southern Cross by Jimmy Buffet (CSN's song)
Ain't to Proud to Beg by the Rolling Stones (not sure)
Good Lovin' done by the Grateful Dead

Long Black Veil by the Band (not sure again) might be my favorite cover.

The Beatles' cover was released in the US as a single by V-J on the Tollie label. (It reached #2 on April 4th 1964 - the week when the first five places on the chart were all Beatles singles.)

Johny Cash's version of Hurt is better then NIN in my opinion.
Also, Gary Jules "Mad World" over tears for fears.

Little Wing
In the Jungle, by Ladysmith Black Mumbazo (remake of an old tribal song from like the early 1900's.)

"bitches ain't [censored]" by ben folds five (orig. Dr. Dre)

at least a few people are gonna try to lynch me for this, but I like 311's version of "love song" better than the cure's original. the original was too flat and featureless, and 311 mixed in some cool harmonies and gave it a moodier feel.
