What was the deal with Gabe's singing bit about Ziedman "he's my boyfriend...". AJ said it was a reference to a Leslie Gore song. I don't get it. Someone enlighten me.

[/ QUOTE ]

He was doing a made up song to the tune of "Johnny Angel", a hit record from the early 60s by Shelley Fabares (Leslie Gore was another girl group singer from that era with a similar look and style). I think it was probably a reference to Corey's wavy hair, which gives him kind of a throwback pop idol look, but it could have been something even more arcane. Who knows with Gabe?

I sometimes wish that I didn't get most of Kaplan's references, but oh well. I did think it was funny when someone posted here a few weeks ago that they thought he was doing a Yoda impression on that "Barry Greenstein, master bluffer" thing.

Okay, I listened to it again. I stand corrected. What is said is this:

AJ: And he raises to $19k here.
GK: He's got the hand to raise with, and I don't think anybody can call him. Eli's got the best hand with a weak ace.. Eli might put Gus on a draw. A flush draw. Which he has. But he also has a pair of aces. And a better kicker. I don't think Eli's going to want to get involved here, but I could be wrong. (Eli: either you have A6 of spades, or 86 of spades). Very close! A8 of spades.

So, even though you were too sensitive, I appologize and stand corrected.

[/ QUOTE ]

Maybe I'm misunderstanding here, but there's NOTHING wrong with what Gabe said here.

1) he meant Eli has the best hand of those remaining
2) some of you are confused about who the "he" is refering to when Gabe says "he also has a pair of aces. And a better kicker". The "he" here is Gus. To make it more obvious:

Eli might put Gus on a draw, a flush draw, which he (Gus) has. But he (Gus) also has a pair of aces, with a better kicker.

He mispoke and not only that but later on he miscalled again on another hand.

[/ QUOTE ]

What was the other hand you're talking about? Gus' 44 vs Eli's KQ on the 283A board? (if so, Gabe said nothing wrong there either).

Yes, that's why I said "I stand corrected."

I think I did not hear Eli's comment at the table on my first listen. That makes it so I heard:

But he also has a pair of aces. And a better kicker. I don't think Eli's going to want to get involved here, but I could be wrong. A8 of spades.

That made me positive that he called Eli's hand teh A8 of spades, solidifying my confusion.

I thought Gus betting pot on the river with JT and trips was an interesting move. I was thinking check/call, since there were missed draws. DN can't fold a better hand and probably folds worse. Then again, maybe Gus read him as tilting and thought the payoff wizard would strike again.

[/ QUOTE ]

On the JT hand does anyone think there was an amount that Gus could have bet that Danny would have folded to? I'm think NOT, because clearly he would have called anything less and perhaps if Gus bet more DN would have put him on a bluff -- plus he seems to be on tilt and doesn't seem capable of folding in this session (what was with his call of the $19k PF bet with his two rags -- oh, they were suited)?

Daniel has never folded to a re-raise pre-flop in any of the HSP shows for any amount.

Important to note, that's of the hands they have shown. If someone comes over the top and Daniel folds headsup, I doubt the hand makes the broadcast.

In the hand in question, DN even told Juanda he called because he was stuck. He was clearly pressing, trying to make a big hand happen. And he probably gets paid off if he hits. Plus, the meta-game benefits...
