I'm from Michigan and interested as well. I might be out there this fall for some job interviews, so depending on the timing I might get the travel expenses from a potential employer instead.

If the dates fit (and most do) I'd be more than happy to go. I'm from Tennessee, vote Republican, and am the song leader at my small Baptist church.

I don't fit the "bomb throwing, left winger who is hopelessly addicted to online poker" profile that the folks pushing this bill would like to frame most of us in...

I also have a beautiful 9 week old boy that is very photogenic (sp?) -- I'll make 'em swear to vote against this junk, before I let them kiss his head for the cameras.

I'd be game assuming I had no other scheduling conflicts. I live in WA State, which is run by nazis. They passed legislation this June making online gambling a class C felony - right up there with multi-count DUIs and sex offenders. They are pressuring our local paper to stop printing Daniel Negreanu's article because it mentions online poker and has a link to full tilt. Some magazines have also cancelled subscriptions of WA residents due to the law.

This kind of legislation drives me crazy. If I can swing it, I'll definitely do it.

Is there a plan to get media attention for this event?

Seems to me some sort of charity poker tournament staged in DC with many pros attending plus hundreds, if not thousands of everyday players could possibly be away to bring attention to the general public about this bad legislation. (I don't think it would be to hard to sway public opinion that poker and online poker should be clearly legal in all 50 states.)

Heck, the organizers of this event could invite all members of Congress to play in this charity tournament event.

Maybe, one of the online sites could step up and sponsor such an event?
