It's a lot easier to remember all the times you lost an 80/20 then the times you won them.

[ QUOTE ] play higher limits, fewer donkeys [/ QUOTE ] I'm hoping this is joke. If it isn't you should keep in mind that the goal of playing poker is not to avoid bad beats. Your goal should be to make money. Better opponents will give out fewer bad beats, but they also give away fewer chips. The games that are filled with donkeys, are the most profitable games to play in. [/ QUOTE ] Telling people complaining of beats to move up in limits is a fairly standard answer on the 2+2 forums. You'll see it pop up occasionally. I suppose the humor is that a lot of bad players like to think they'd make more money if they didn't get sucked out on so they should move up. They are right, they would make more money if they didn't get sucked out on. But they make a lot of money when the suckouts don't happen. |

[ QUOTE ]
The thing I want some feedback on is this, I have a couple questions, 1) Am I just an unlucky person and it will always be this way so I should just stop now instead of thinking it will even out?? 2) Is this just a phase I have to go thru?? and if so, How does anyone turn a profit when this is always happening??? 3) is the internet just rigged or just so stupid I should forsake internet poker all together?? [/ QUOTE ] OK. 1) If you're thinking this... well, you can't seriously be thinking this. Things WILL even out in the end. The probability of you accumulating nothing but bad beats for the rest of your life is essentially 0%. 2)Yes, it's a phase. No, it's not always happening. Maybe it's just happening to you. 3)Internet poker is not rigged. There are a few things you could do to help yourself out at this junction. You are obviously a bit shaken by this turn of events, so maybe a poker hiatus is in order. A month or two off, and maybe "your luck will change," as they say. Everyone goes through streaks occasionally. If these beats are really getting to you, you may be playing at a higher level than either your bankroll or emotions can handle. When stuff like this happens to me, I take a break and play Omaha or 7Stud instead. I've read that Scott Fischman tries a new game when he's running bad in another too. Even if you don't know any other games, you could refresh your mind by learning one. It may even improve your Hold'em game. If you don't want this type of stuff to ever happen to you again, then yes, you need to quit poker. Otherwise, you just gotta stick with it. |

I appreciate your response but to me it all comes down to IM ALWAYS WAYYY AHEAD AND IM GETTING SCREWED , THERES NOTHING TO CHANGE THIS FACT. I WAS AHEAD IN EVERY HAND, THATS THE BOTTOM LINE, NOT POSITION, NOT RAISES AND CALLS, THE CARDS TURNED OVER, IM 80%++++ AND I LOSE, HORRIBLE [/ QUOTE ] Come on! This is a two day period! Get a grip or just quit poker. This is something every good poker player goes through several times a year.. get used to it or stop playing. |

I think the topic is not about playing those hands in an optimal way, it is about a string of bad beats. A bad beat is defined by the likely outcome getting turned around by an unlikely event.
You can play like an idiot, but if you are a 10:1 favorite going to the river only to lose it, it's a bad beat nevertheless (even if the other guy had the pot odds for the call). Personally I think one should not get discouraged by bad beats. If you like to believe in conspiracy theories, then quit playing online and check out a real casino. |

Who learns anything in online "Play Money" tables? Seriously?
Sometimes when I'm bored I'll go on there and play REALLY stupid just for pure entertainment. And I know I'm not the only one. |
