Cunningham would have been worse. 1. You have to be a pro to win at the game. 2. Poker is supposed to be fun. Alan looks like he is awaiting a proctoscope. 3. Photogenic? Are you kidding? [/ QUOTE ] I like Cunningham, but this is true lol. |

We all get old. Age is irrelevant, it's what we do with the time we're given that's important. As a 36 yo, I'm just glad I was raised back in the days when kids could have recess and you didn't have to say "not that there's anything wrong with that" after saying the word gay.

OK - just confirmed it.
Two of my friends (they are a married couple, they are online pros and teach WPT boot camp for extra $) backed Jamie Gold. I haven't spoken to them in-depth about the deal but they apparently had 50% of him. This flies in the face of online reports that he won his seat through Bodog.com. But I know that they are friends with Jamie Gold, and obviously, wouldn't lie about such a thing. (Not having an extra $6M would make them look pretty silly I'd think...) The husband in the couple spoke with an ESPN commentator, noting he had a piece of Gold, after the tourney ended. They said "holy [censored]! If we had known that we'd have the camera on you at least get some shots..." That. Is. F'in. Insane. If anyone is interested, I will post more details as I learn them. I do not know much about backing deals, if an enfoceable legal contract is necessary... I also have heard very shady things about Gold. We shall see how this turns out. -Al |

Guess you are calling Bodog liars then.
http://www.bodognation.com/poker-new...ecord-pot.html [ QUOTE ] Gold’s buy-in to the Main Event was picked up on a hunch by Team Bodog, which saw his skills and knew of his recent success. "Jamie came to us through our Hollywood connections," said Calvin Ayre, Founder and CEO of Bodog.com. "We knew he was a good player with some impressive tourney results and that he was coached by Johnny Chan. We thought he'd be a strong competitor but an amazing run like this one we really can't call, we did see his potential though." [/ QUOTE ] |

Angus - I am not calling Bodog liars. I read this too. He's a member of "Team Bodog". This doesn't explictly say that they paid his full buy-in. And even if they did, he may have sold part of himself after being awarded the seat by Bodog.com. Or cross-booked with my friends (who both played ME).
I held off on posting the above until I actually spoke to my friends. -Al |
