But that's a debate. What the OP said wasn't. What the OP said was [censored], and as I've said, I lost complete respect for him. What a freaking douche.

I honestly don't know what your problem is.

Here's how I read the OP: ZB listed attributes he thought would attract people to poker. he wasn't saying "I don't want someone rich to win cause I hate rich people". He wasn't saying "I want a retard to win cause I love retards". He listed attributes he believed would attract more people to the game, and attributes he didn't think would attract people to poker.

why exactly did you lose respect for the OP?

seriously,
zip

Moneymaker, Raymer, Hachem, Gold......4 middle aged white men. Gold definately isn't gunna hurt the influx of new players unless he does something absolutely doucherific. I think gold will actually be a good ambassador to the game because he talks a lot at the table and it seems like he is just having a good time. Poeple will think oh you can just goof around, talk, have a good time and still be a WSOP champ, which isn't true unless you are actually playing a deeper psychological game like gold was. That being said i did want Allen to win and I think he would be the best ambassador for the game because If a pro wins then it solidifies to people that poker is a skill game (That might not be good for us, but it would be good for poker's image)

I just have a personal issue with calling someone who is 36..."middle-aged". Ouch.

Is the average life span of a white American male not 72? 72/2 = ?

Trying to be funny right? Hard to grasp teh irony sometimes..if not, middle aged = typically 45+ years old. Duh.

Are you serious, or joking. Did you not read the OPs first post at all? If he simply said something similar to what you said (some players will attract more players than others) thats one thing. Even THAT is debatable. Think about it...moneymaker, raymer, and hachem win and they are not teen aged kids. YET teen aged kids and young 20 somethings are basically the BOOM in online poker at least. So, another middle aged guy wins, that wont deter new teen and 20 something donks from signing up I assure you.

But that's a debate. What the OP said wasn't. What the OP said was [censored], and as I've said, I lost complete respect for him. What a freaking douche.

This is far worse than the OP, IMO.

Learn how to civily disagree with someone.

Gold will be fine as champ. I don't really like him, but I'm sure he'll grow into his role just fine. I think he's smart enough to understand what it means to be the the WSOP champ, and even if he's not the people around him like Chan will point it out to him.

The play will probably edited nicely on ESPN with all his table talk getting lots of new donks into the game. Frankly I can't wait to go to the casinos and have a bunch of idiots talking about their hand non-stop thinking they're cool. I'll take the free information.

All,

Gold played a fantastic final table. He held the chip lead for almost a week. Of course he got lucky, but he also put himself in great spots with his play. Most of the pros that were on the broadcast thought he was playing great.

Yet there is a contingent of internet mops who didnt like the way he played or that he talked during hands? I have a strong feeling this group is wrong about how Gold will translate to the public.
