"Here's the video link in case you all missed it. Total lack of class. What a prick. "

Marlow was specifically talking about the video not Gold's conduct at the table.

people who are proclaiming that he got lucky to win boggle my mind since it would not be possible to win a 9K plus player tournament without getting crazy lucky.

no matter who wins what, there are and will always be haters.

for me, what i thought was great about the final table was that for the most part the players acted like gentleman. maybe if that happens some more, every time i go play live it wont be a tool box convention.

Exactly. I didn't watch the PPV broadcast, I only saw the HHs on Cardplayer. I'm not much of a tourney player, but I thought he played his stack reasonably well. My comments have nothing to do with his actions at the table, just the video.

Tomorrow Gold reveals he is a long-time 2+2er with username....

Wonder how the tunes would change.

Did you even WATCH or are you simply jealous and whining?

I WATCHED: Gold run his yap ad nauseum while he ran hot (not really wanting 1st place), limp- re-raise-call push against deep stack w QQ and be dominating, outkick Allen's trip 9's, get hit with deck prior to final table and let the other players know ..."why he did what he did on each hand...I mean I had to call..."

I am jealous: that I could not play a WSOP event much less a ME final table w/ half the chips in play so that any play w/ any two cards ( or not playing for any reason at any time) could arguably be the "right" play.

I am whining: because none of my sucker prop bets came through and my 2 sentimental favorites did not win.

All this malcontent for $25...all-in!

Who knows, maybe the guy's the biggest a-hole on the planet, but he basically ran over this tournament for the last 4 days and went wire to wire once he got the lead. He put on a big-stack clinic. He deserved the win. Now I hope he's not a douche but I think he probably is. Great playing, though.

What's more important to me is whether he will bring more poor players and their dead money to the tables. That's the only way in which his victory will influence me meaningfully.

Who cares if the new "ambassador of poker" is a no-talent luckbox? If memory serves correctly, that's exactly what Moneymaker was, and that didn't really have a negative effect on the game, did it?

And if the problem is that he's a prick - since when do you need to be a good person to win a poker tournament? This just in - life does not work out like in the movies, sometimes people get what they don't deserve.

I fail to see how anybody can be logically upset over this, especially since it will not affect them in any way whatsoever. You're jealous, get over it.
