you beat 200nl for 7pt/bb then I have no doubt if you played the exact same game you could beat it for 5pt/bb easy

21-15 is what most winning players seem to run at. I run alot less aggro preflop than that but thats just me. Why would you try to change from 21-15?

[/ QUOTE ]

Because Yvessaint is my hero... seriously I like playing tight it allows me to 8table very comfortably (playing + browsing internet + some quick runs to the kitchen) and I think it fits my mentality well. I try to play 16/12 and see how it works if it doesnt I can always come back.

mediocre earn

[/ QUOTE ]

Heh 7ptbb at 200NL isnt just a mediocre earn.. its funny like people on this forum think that 150$-200$/hour is just a mediocre earn Strange world that online poker.

I just started playing today and everything is going the right way

Just crossed 10k for the month.

I used to say similair things when I was where you are now.
Now I dont think its that simple. 400NL is much harder than 200NL I believe.

philosophy of playing very long sessions while stuck

[/ QUOTE ]

I tried otherwise but I cant help not to do the same. When I am stuck I am motivated to play and when I am up a ton something tells me to stop. I really dunno why and I hate it (because it probably affects my earns).

I'm the same, and I don't think I'll ever change. I guess I'm never getting into the full zen of poker varience. It basicly comes down to going to bed happy having had a winning session vs going to bed with that little knot in my stomach after dropping a few buyins. Sleeping good at night is massive life +EV.

I agree, I think 2/4 is a much tougher game. I find myself having to work much harder at 2/4.

OK I just got poker tracker in June and I started with a consistent BR in March (many ups and downs and BUSTOs and swings before that, I've never posted my poker-life story on here before). From the middle of June, I've run at only 2.58 ptbb/100 in ~85,000 hands at 200NL on Party. FWIW, I think I ran much hotter before that, and if you go back to hands before that, I probably ran at 3.5 to 4.0 over my last 150,000 hands. That was 6-8 tabling. Anyways, my thoughts on that are that I tilted, A LOT. I think I've been good enough for a long time to beat 200NL (I've always said that I could've beaten 200NL better a year and a half ago, before I played LAG).

After grinding at 200NL for many hands, I'm up playing 400. At 400, my WR is better (Okay, 3.73 over ~21k hands). I expected this to happen, because some of the more "advanced" plays or semi-bluffs I was pulling at 200 had no merit, whereas they're more likely to work at 400 where there is more money at stake. Anyways, there is a moral to this boringness.

What I'm basically trying to say is that in many regards the level that you play at (I think I play well and think about the game well) and the success you have at it are more effected by outside factors like BR management, ability to NOT tilt, table selection, etc. than things like pure skill level.

For instance, even if you lost to all the regs a small amount, but demolished the fish and never tilted, you'd probably come out way ahead. At 200NL, I was 4-betting AI with AK like it was nothing. My image was sweet, but it didn't make up for the fact that I was probably making many -EV decisions. Now that I've garnered that, I'm ready to beat 400 like a redheaded stepchild.

By the way, I'm a 30/19 trying to become a 32/24. I think DOUBLE 16/12 is perfect, LOL.

I've found that it is because I NEVER know what they have because it seems like they are trying to play go-fish or gin rummy or something and not poker. If they don't know the strength of their hand, how can you know the strength of their hand? I can't beat donks either.

what always gets me is the incredible power variance has. try something - after finishing a session, imagine results if you take two of your worst beats of the session (usually 2-3 outers) and imagine if you won them.

it turns last nights session at 2/4 from +$0 to +$2,000. WTF BLOW ME VARIANCE
