There are definately a different set of rules in place for TV Tournaments and "regular" Tournaments.
As far as I know in any regular tournament as well as casino cash games you cannot "angle" or "coach" while a hands are in play. It doesn't matter if you are currently in the hand or not, you cannot say anything that is catagorized as "angling" or "coaching." Angling - The basic definition of angling is saying or doing anything that affects how another player will act. Coaching - The basic definition of coaching is telling a player what or what not to do. I think it is rather obvious why these rules are in place for casino tournaments but I think on the flip side, you can see why these rules are "relaxed or waived" a bit when it comes to televisied tournaments or final tables. I cannot deny what Joe was doing could be catagorized as anglnig or coaching (well less coaching) but whether it is "unethical" is a totally different poker question. |

In a multi-way pot you do anything to announce your hand or the strength of it with verbal action.
You shouldn't say stuff like "I'd only have a monster here" or something along those lines. It's just an extension of the open hand rule. You can't flip your hand over or say what you have, just like you shouldn't imply what you have. Most people here understands the rules and that includes shady ass Diablo, who's practically a street hustler trying to pistolwhip unsuspecting prop bettors with unscrupulous tactics and has no moral compass. |

Edit:
Never mind, the TDA rule was already cited. The move was both unethical and against the rules, assuming those rules were in effect during this event. Regards, T |

Bump because I just saw this episode and they show the hand and I think Ezcheese's interpretation and subsequent uneasy feelings are warranted.

I think you are blowing this way out portion.
You asked a question that 99% of the people have answered in a way you don't like so you then changed your question asking us to assume that you were right about Hachem wanting Lee to fold which makes no sense to me. I can't believe Hachem would want Lee to fold any hand when he had pocket Kings and once Lee didn't insta call that ruled out Pocket Aces. As for telling Lee what he had he didn't. period. Table talk like that happens all the time, the most famous being from Scotty "If you call it is all over baby". I think you are also making an error assuming Ly doesn't understand English well. True he doesn't speak English well but that has nothing to do with how well he can understand and I doubt he could have been as successful a poker player without being able to understand English. I am sorry but I agree with most everyone else, Hachem did nothing wrong and you are really grasping at straws trying to prove your point. RZ |

So it's ok that he told Lee watkinson to fold but not Minh Ly? By the way, if Watkinson calls Hachem is not a 4 to 1 favorite. [/ QUOTE ] I didn't see anything wrong with it at all. I'm curious if I'm missing something from your post. The way I'm understanding you is because Minh doesn't understand english perfectly that he's getting the short end of the stick? Well I'm NOT one of those people that says learn the language or leave it. But unless you rule out speaking all together then there's nothing that can be done. Since we're in the USA then the only way I could see anything like that as being unfair is if they were both speaking a foreign language giving/taking info. I just thought it was a heck of a read and ,like you, I did think he was trying to get Lee to fold. |
