Let's see, roommate who constantly smacks his girlfriend around and has a domestic violence arrest warrant out against him thinks he should file a complaint when the cops come looking for him, all while you're both performing a dubiously legal activity. This is not going to end well.
Seriously, you're just giving the cops pretext to seize your computer, and when they start searching it, they may find something else, including inadvertent kiddie/teen porn. Does no one ever watch Law & Order? As someone said above, roommate who attracts cops is definitely -EV. Get rid of roommate. It's tough to 8-table from Rikers Island. |

[ QUOTE ]
my room mate had a warrant out for his arrest due to his girlfriend filing some stupid domestic abuse complaint ( she dropped it within a day, they smack each other around all the time ) and so these cops came to my house while i was not there and broke the door down and started accusing my room mate who was there of being an internet poker fraud artist because myself and the room mate who had the warrant both have two monitors set up. he kept yelling about it loudly so that our downstairs neighbor could hear about it before leaving and apprehending their guy at a later date ( all charges were dropped after he conveinently sat in jail for almost 2 weeks ). the whole thing is funny to me ( and unrealistic. i play 10/20, my room mate plays 1/2 ) but i'm glad that they are sending out cops to bust down doors who also have immense knowledge of internet fraud. that's some good policing. [/ QUOTE ] Ok is this some kind of reading comprehension test? Like when enough people punch holes in the story you come back and say "Oh, just kidding, this didnt happen, you suckers.." Because I dont get why the cops were there if... a) The charges were dropped the next day and b) Why would they consider you an internet poker fraud in the first place, how did they even know you played poker online? A warrant for your roommates arrest for domestic violence does not include questioning you on your internet usage. c) [censored] it, its made up. |

[/ QUOTE ] You didn't mention the datamining part in yr OP. I can see some [censored] cop doing this (they aren't generally the sharpest tools in the shed), but this story is a bit fantanstic. It's been entertaining though (IMO at least). |
