Matt

College Diploma in Computer Programming

I work as a programmer (strange) in a Market Research company. Possibly the most boring job in the world. Before this, I worked tech support for ATI & Apple. Before that, I spent 3 years in the Army Reserves, while I was in high school & college.

I live & work in Toronto right now, I'm originally from Peterborough, about 1.5 hours northeast of here. I have a beautiful apartment overlooking the 401 (insert sarcasm here). That's a 12 lane highway for those unfamiliar with the area. I live with my wife of 1 year, and our 2 month old daughter. I'm 26 years old.

Hobbies - who has time for those? I'd call werewolf a hobby, but it's bordering on obsession. I don't have a whole lot of time for poker. Other than that, I like to read & play video games, I golf on occasion.

For the future, we'll probably be moving out of the city before Mia gets to school. Maybe Peterborough, more likely one of the multitude of suburbs around here.

I'm fairly lazy but very intelligent, probably more than most of you. I'm also very arrogant.

Hmm. I'm pretty sure this describes 80% of 2+2 users.

Oh, I didn't really put much about poker.

Before on line I played once a week to once a month in a small home game. I think I went several years without a losing session, which speaks to my luck and the incredible softness of the game, but my game was so pedestrian then by comparison it is sad.

After 6 $200 deposits (over a year ish) I was about to go busto again (I was winning, but played over my bankroll). I took $10 free from Royal Vegas and ground that up to a couple hundred. Then I played in their "Beat the Expert" series and won. (I have always been good at MTT's. I won the first MTT I ever played, a 3+0 PLO/8 tourney on UB for like 65 bucks or so, woooohoooo). Anyway, at the time the prize included an evaluation by Dr. Al, who put me on to 2+2 (the site, I already had several books. I buy lots of books.)

So I started posting here, mainly in MTT. Dropped some more money on party, cleared a bonus (losing money) at NL 25 or 50, which was just sad because SSNL is another area I rarely had any trouble with. Started grinding some STT's on party, and playing in a nightly rebuy on royal vegas. Won a couple of the rebuys, lot's of final tables (a win was worth like 3K). Got bored with STT's and jumped into the 5/10 6 max games. I ran insanely hot for my first 2k hands (like 18BB/100) and did ok after that.

I started playing in some of the daily supers, too. I won two super fridays in a three week span for about 25K each. So my second year in poker went pretty well. Also, I started playing the 15/30 full game on party, which was the biggest game you could actually get a seat at during that time. I think I was about a .8-1.0 BB/100 winner there, but I got a little burned out and cut back.

The next year, number 2 daughter was born. Throughout I have always played lots of games because I get bored easily. Last year was a big break even bowl of meh in poker terms, but I had lots of rl stuff on my plate, including landing the aforementioned CFO job. I did manage to run my bankroll down by paying my mortgage out of it. I think I ended the year playing STT's followed by nl, both of which went really well. If only I would stick to the stuff that is easy...

This year has also been on the meh side. My wife has had some medical problems, and I left my CFO job (which I was not going to put in more than a year anyway, because it sucked. I just wanted to get it on the resume and move on.) Instead I went back to my old company and have to start making poker pay again, or get out of it. Not the greatest combo since I am sort of on life tilt, but I shall overcome. Currently I am playing mainly nl 6 max. I really think I will start playing some MTT's again since 1. I have always had lots of success at them and 2. I think I may actually be able to make it to the WSOP next year. But I also want to build my roll up enough to play the bigger TD games on UB and the new HORSE games coming to stars. Oh, and I really want to get good at PLO, and work on my HU games. So basicly, same story as always, I can't stick with one game for more than a few months before I need to wander.

Wow, that was long and rambling, but killed some time.

Wow, chuck...good detective work. What's my favorite color?

Although, a fair amount of that is out of date. If you wanted to know how I went green, you could have asked me.
