Default RAKE = BB/100 ??

Hey was talking to some guys at 2p2 and they implied that the rake at the low limit stuff 1/2 2/4 made the games very tough to come out on top, unless you were KILLING them.

Im just wondering what the rake worked out to be. I'll try and calculate it, tell me if im way off track here.

In poker tracker in general tabs im taking TOTAL RAKE over 4118 hands of 1/2 as being 228.50

228.50/4118 = 0.05548...
0.05548*100 = $5.5488
5.55/2(the bb) = 2.77bb/100!!

Not sure if my sample or my method is accurate here.
2/4 = ?
3/6 = ?
5/10 = ?

Thanks

*NOTE THIS IS FOR PARTY POKER which has higher/lower/normal rake than other sites..?

Yes, the rake is around that high. The games are still very beatable.

Those games are VERY beatable either way.. A solid player can easily make 1.5-2bb/100 at these games, although a good rakeback deal is very valuable, particularly at these lower limits. I think it was Bryce in the MHSH forums who said that he believes that up until 15/30, you should be a rakeback player.

Also, by doing a quick little google search, you should be able to come up with some comparitave figures on how the rake differs from site to site.

What do you mean, a "rakeback player"?

Thanks.

Well it was The Bryce who said it, so I'm just assuming that he meant that its important to have a good rakeback deal while playing the lower limits. I can see why it might be beneficial.. Rakeback is much more consistent than your average low-limit player's winrate, and I think its a more efficient way of building a bankroll + avoiding tilt caused by swings. from .25/.50 all the way up to 3/6, I was very unsure if I was a winning player. It drove me crazy, and it made the swings almost unbearable. I suppose if I had rakeback during this period, I would have been able to keep a good head on my shoulders, and avoid tilt.

OTOH, I think its a good thing to experience the full force of those swings (and to be uncertain if your a winning player), and learn from them by understanding variance, and also from forcing yourself to improve your game.

This is very true. The last 2 1/2 weeks of august I hit a 270BB downswing, and it's been a good catalyst to get me posting more here rather than just lurking. And I definitely felt it still, but in the last few days I've gotten back almost 1/2 of it from bonuses and rb and it feels really nice to get those payments. But yeah, I agree that at the low limits it's really important to have a good rb deal at any sites that you play frequently.
