Hero bets $3, BB folds, CO calls $3, Button folds.

PAHUD hadnt kicked in yet and this guy didnt do anything out of the ordinary. His play on all streets screamed of flush draw and his actions on the river confirmed it. Since the 2 couldnt have possibly made 2 pairs or a set, it's either the flush or a bluff (perhaps the unlikely straight). Given the way villain played the hand, I dont think im good often enough here. Anyone calls here?

Good fold. You are saving money in the long run doing this. It's hard to lay down a flopped set, but this is a good spot.

Anyone want to discuss river bet size options?

Would betting bigger be better? Like $18 or so, basically for value, hoping for a call from wacky 2 pairs or strong 1 pairs... you'd obv. still fold to the rr, but I think you may be giving up too much value not betting the river bigger....

Given the way this particular villain played (calling down) I'd say his bet size was good enough. He would probably fold to a bigger bet. And wouldnt 2 pair reraise on the flop/turn? Perhaps with a raise on the flop or turn a bigger bet might seems better, but in this case I would go for the $10-$12 bet.

With a hand like this, I usually check/call the river. It will probably cost you about the same, and if not, you can just fold. I'm not really sure what a river bet accomplishes here.

I agree that you are probably beat though. As played, I think a fold is fine.

I don't understand why no one has brought up the turn bet. It's true that villain probably was drawing to the flush. That said, why the weak bet on the turn? This is at LEAST a PSB if not an overbet for me. I don't want any donk getting a good price on drawing to the flush and $7 just doesn't do it.

First, I agree; pot it.

Second, $7 is enough if OP does not pay off a made flush.

Third, if you seriously overbet on occasion, you are simply having too many premonitions of monsters springing up on the river.

Think about it: you are finally hitting it with Scarlett J. You don't want to overpush it -- it would be over before it could get really good. Sure, if you take it too slow you could make a fool of yourself, so find the right speed; don't go nuts.
