Daniel Negreanu raised from middle position to 800, another player reraised to 1.9K, and Negreanu called. The flop came Jd10c8d, Negreanu checked, his opponent bet 2.2K, Negreanu raised to 5.5K, his opponent moved all in, and Negreanu called. They showed:

Daniel Negreanu Qs9c
Opponent Ac9

The last two cards were blanks, and Negreanu won the pot with a Q-straight, increasing his stack to 54K and eliminating the other player.

Actually, in my second post in this discussion, I said this:

I'm obviously not saying you should fold if somebody else goes all-in and you somehow know you've got a 70/30 advantage. You would call instantly.

I still want to know where the 50% came from

[/ QUOTE ]

Chance of winning the first = .7 (or 70%)
Chance of winning the second = .7 (or 70%)
Chance of winning both hands = .7 * .7 = .49 (or 49%)

Chance of not winning both hands = 1 - .49 = .51 (or 51%)

-Aces

This I understand fully, however you insinuate that one should not do that multiple times. Like, quoted black and white, printed. This simply is not true.

Not to bust your balls, I just happen to have a pet peeve of people presenting certain statements as fact, when they aren't, and said person has a good deal of authority. Like Ken Warren

I really sidetracked this thread accidentally.

At least Jean-Robert Bellande has been eliminated. Anybody know anything about how he plays?

Thorsson Eliminates Another
William Thorsson raises to $700 from the cut off and the button re-raises to $1,200. The small blind makes a third raises to $3,500. Thorsson re-raises $7,000 more and the small blind calls. The flop comes A22 and the small blind checks and Thorsson moves all-in for $100,000. The small blind makes the call after 2 minutes of deliberation and shows K-K. Thorsson taps the table and says "Wow," and sheepishly shows his 75. The turn is a 3 and the river a 4 giving Thorsson the wheel. Thorsson now sits with $125,000.

I don't remember Tiffany putting sick beats like that on anyone.

It's kind of important to know how much Thorsson's opponent had to call on the flop. It may not have been that big a bluff from Thorsson's perspective.

Thorsson is obviously looking to take it down pre-flop. Then, he's hoping the Ace will scare him off.
