on side note, it looks like Recchi will go back to the Pens.

Damn, I was hoping Carolina could keep him...unrealistic wish, I suppose. Oh well, I hope he and Crosby can get along.

Arbitration is a joke. It lets RFA's get paid like UFA's. The whole point of having an RFA is to get paid less to play with the parent club.

What? Briere deserved that award. The fact is, almost everyone his age with comparable numbers is now signed through their some of their UFA years - there'd be almost no worthwhile comparisons otherwise. Teams are locking up their best forwards because they know that once they make it to UFA, their price goes up absurdly.

If Briere were being signed long-term, even for only one more year, would he be paid $5 million? Absolutely.

In the past, teams could rarely get guys to sign through their UFA years because that was such a huge payday and they really only have one shot at it - now they have two shots at a lucrative long-term deal, so they're willing to give up some of those years. Arbitration is going to mean that players in the final year of RFA status will be paid higher than in previous years.

The whole point of RFA's is to allow teams to develop & maintain young talent, without them being poached compensation free by another team.

Briere almost certainly deserves $5M, based on what other players of his level make. If Buffalo won't shell out the money, then that's too bad for them.

Brodeur
Kiprusoff
Turco
Gerber
Luongo
Miller
Giguere
Ward
Lundquist
DiPietro
Theodore
Roloson
Fernandez
Nittymaki
Denis
Huet
Lehtonen
Khabibulin
Raycroft
Kolzig

Some teams have better goalies, but for keeper leagues these goalies will get alot of playing time. Also, the bottom of the list can easily be changed around, the order is pretty good but far from perfect. Whenever SJ decides on who will be its main goalie that pick should be added into the middle of this list.

So you would take Giguere over Huet? Anyone have a more clear picture of the Giguere/Bryz and Huet/Abby situation?

Whoa .. Gerber and Gigeure are too high up on this list, IMO. Gigeure especially, since he will probably split time with Bryzgalov until they find a solution to that problem. I'd also move Kari Lehtonen up. I think MA Fleury should be on this list instead of Kolzig - both play behind horrible defenses, but MA is 12 years younger.

I'm looking to snag a second goaltender, my first being Fernandez. I was thinking Huet...

Available is Theodore, Giggy, Roloson, Khabibulin, Huet. Most of the young guys are snagged.

Theodore and Roloson I would take first, they will get more playing time.
