[ QUOTE ]
i am well aware that the super is likely not going to override anything. but he is the face of the district and needs to know what is going on here, and i am quite confident that he is totally in the dark. i will make it very clear to him that i do not want to leave, but given the way (a) the schedule has turned out and (b) the way i have been ignored by the administration, i feel no loyalty to the district and have no choice but to explore opportunites elsewhere.

assuming i go back, i will be (a) working for an administration that gave no consideration to my preferences when it came to scheduling and (b) working with two colleagues who were unwilling to compromise in the least and clearly were out to protect their own interests. these "bad vibes" you speak of already exist, and they were not created by me.

[/ QUOTE ]
While your situation definitely sucks really bad... is it possible you are just the odd man out here and taking this all too personally because of how awesome you are at your job? Keep in mind that the rest of your co-workers likely think they are just as good a teacher as you and are fending for themselves because they are too stupid to see it any other way.

That being said, if they can't see that you belong teaching AP then I would say screw all the politics and go somewhere else pronto. While it sucks for the students I don't think a school with people that dumb in charge deserves you.

Edit: sorry for the boring contribution but I am really late to the thread. gl dude.

[ QUOTE ]
i sent this email to the principal this weekend.

[ QUOTE ]
Mr.XXXXX,

I have left several messages requesting a meeting with you and Mrs. XXXXX and have gotten no response. At this point my only recourse is to request a meeting with Dr. XXXXX, which I have done.

Sincerely,

PokerBob

[/ QUOTE ]

he sent this one back this morning.

[ QUOTE ]
Bob, We have been out of the office for a good deal of the time for the last month and are now back at it. If you’d like to set up a meeting with either one of us or both of us, we’d be happy to do so. XXXXX

[/ QUOTE ]

I left messages when he was there. even if he was gone HE IS BACK NOW and still never called. i don't know what i find more irritating, the fact that he never returned my call or the fact that he expected me to buy this BS excuse.

[/ QUOTE ]

Email back with, "I am meeting with Dr. Blah Blah on xxx date. Please call me at [Bob's cell] to arrange a meeting if you would like to meet beforehand." Make him call you. If he doesn't, it's an easy thing to drop in your conversation with Dr. Blah Blah. "Oddly, I tried to meet with the principal but he never called me back..."

[/ QUOTE ]

TheDaverIsRight

you have to put the pressure on them now, you gave them plenty of time, now you just have to light that match under their ass to get them to talk to you

good luck Pbob, this looks like complete BS, and I hope you don't get shafted

Bob,

Here are a few remarks I made to you earlier in this thread:

[ QUOTE ]
Remember that the Principal came out of retirement to do this gig. He probably has no clue about e-mail.

[/ QUOTE ]

[ QUOTE ]
10-1 he is on vacation. They like to get out of town asap after school’s out. (Even odds he went to Vegas - just a hunch.)

[/ QUOTE ]

[ QUOTE ]
Generally speaking Administrations aren’t pro-active, they are reactive.

[/ QUOTE ]

I’d follow the chain of command if you still can. Probably an effort in futility, but at least you can’t be faulted for not following the chain. If you go over the P’s head - the first thing the Super will do is send you back to talk to the P.

It is all Alice in Wonderland/Doublespeak/CATCH22 stuff. But, to paraphrase from the Godfather - “It is the business you chose.”

they are going to get away with this, as it is likely nothing will change. but they are going to have to tell me why they have screwed me, and they are going to made aware of my feelings on the issue.

[/ QUOTE ]
Do you think they will be honest? I don't really see anything coming from this other than getting folks pissed off at you. But that's just me.

Also how much did you cash for on the WSOP? I'd be willing to bet that jealousy is a HUGE factor in this. If TAP knows that you cashed in a WSOP event while you were taking a year off... You are SCREWED. You probably made more in a 'few days' that she will make in a year.

Envy is an evil thing.

if by "how much did you cash" you mean "when did you BUSTO", the answer is after round 3.

Someone made some comment about you 'Being on TV on the WSOP' or something like that (it's a VERY long thread).

What are the chances that anyone involved in this knows that you spent $10,000 to play in a poker game? If nobody can give you a valid reason, you might just want to ask if this is the reason.

If I was a teacher pulling in $35 - $45/year (I'm guessing here... we definitely don't pay teachers what they are worth, especially the good ones) and I heard that one of my fellow teachers took a year off and dumped $10,000 on a poker game you can bet that I'd be jealous.

Default met with the superintendent.......

....on tuesday. laid out the situation. said flat out "i'm telling you this because i am likely going to quit. i am one of the better, more popular teachers at that school and when i just up and quit, people are going to come asking you 'why?', and i want you to know my side of things".

he seemed very empathetic to my situation/confused how i could be getting treated this way and told me he hoped i would not quit. he told me that he wanted to set up a meeting with the principal and that he would get back to me that afternoon or on wednesday. it is now saturday and i have heard nothing.

a friend of mine who has worked with the superintendent on several occasions told me that he is a "yes" man and is not the best at dealing with controversy, so the fact that he seemed to be on my side during our meeting means nothing. he was not surprised that the super never called me back.

i was offered a short-term job in a very affluent district, but probably will not take it.

i will probably resign early next week.
