Villain is 29/9/1.25 over 34 hands and seems to be a semi-decent player at least.

Villain could even be doing this with two pair. Even if villain does have 98 then I still have 22.5% equity. I'd raise pre-flop.
I'd call the turn push. |

Often I would raise to $2 here, but I had been running over the game with lot's of PF raises so I decided to check here since I was OOP and there is a high likelyhood of an overcard on the flop. First mistake? [/ QUOTE ] Yes. The fact that you've been running over the table should force you not to semi-bluff raise crap in this spot, not to stop you from raising your premium hands for value. The "high likelyhood of an overcard on the flop" is another reason to raise, not to check. Your hand is very likely to be best right now, but it doesn't play well against a large field OOP, not raising here is a horrible mistake. As played, flop is ok and turn an easy call. |

Hero doesn't have top set, since there's a jack on the board.
Why would the villian raise it so much with the nuts? He could be protecting a medium strength + draw hand. I don't think he has 98 or JJ. I'm putting my stack in everytime. That's why they let you reload easily. |

So if I were to have raised PF then I wouldn't be in this situation right? |
