Default Typical Home Game Rake?

What kind of rake would you expect for a 10/20 home game? The one I've been playing at (with a dedicated dealer) is 5% to $4 (plus tip). It's a great game, but I'm curious if it's standard for the rake to be essentially equivalent to the nearby casinos.

$4 max is a good rake. $5 is about as high as I'm willing to stand unless the game is good enough to offset it.

IMHO, home games have zero rake. You sir, are playing at an underground poker club.

Word.

The "rake" in a typical home game consists of some cash for beer and snacks. The again your typical home game doesn't have a dedicated dealer.

How about $per seat/per hour deals? What's good for 1/2? 2/4? 5/10?

The going rate in Casinos is $6/half hour, and that's absolutely insane. Time charges are the work of the devil.

For a home game? NO rake, maybe a flat fee charge for expenses- that's what I'D expect.

For an underground card room? Depends on the services provided. The raker better not be playing in the games that he's raking.

Otherwise, judge the service provided vs. legitimate card rooms and decide if it's worth the cost to you.

An appropriate rake for a home game is zero.

Since you do pay a rake, you should expect the same services the casino provides, right? You have a dealer, but what about security? I would imagine a 10/20 game has a lot of cash around (or nearby).

Anyways, a 5%/$4 rake equates to about $60 an hour for the house (plus tip...another $40 an hour). So if you think you are getting $100/hr in services from the house, than stay, otherwise, go.

Oh yea, one more thing. Since they are taking a rake, it is an illegal game. So you not only run the risk of getting your money stolen from thieves, you also run the risk of the police taking your money.
