NV delegation casts 3 Nays. (this almost never happens)

I am fairly confident that this bill will die in the senate. Ensign has already come out agaisnt it and Reid should not let it get through.

The real over/under would be on whether or not there is a senate floor vote this term....

Odds of winning in court = odds of scoring two touchddowns, down by 14 in the 4th quarter.

I'm pretty sure Bush has never vetoed a bill in his entire term in office. He's threatened to do it, but I don't think he actually has.

So, I'd say close to 99%.

If we're lucky he'll use an electronic signature. You know, as a gimmick for the Internet Age.

The constitutionality of this bill will be challenged within 24 hours of its passage in the Senate if it gets that far.

[/ QUOTE ]

Why is this bill unconstitutional?

[/ QUOTE ]

I will take a guess and say because it is too broad in scope. If it was something specific like banning underage gambling it would be fine.

But simply telling the public what they can or cannot do (when it is legal in other forms elsewhere), is a bit of a stretch.

I don't think even if it passes the Senate it will go through.

There should be a challenge in the courts on right to privacy. This is a blaring example of gov't intrusion and should be challenged.

Could be a 2-3 year battle

[/ QUOTE ]

Instead of indulging yourself in these fantasies of why the bill won't ever become a reality even if the senate does pass it, why not call/write your senator so it doesn't even pass in the first place?

You guys who think this will get held up in the courts or declared unconstitutional are seriously mistaken. I think of a single plausible argument that would get this shot down in the courts.

Bush hasn't vetoed a single bill yet while he's been President. I'd lay my bankroll this won't be his first.
