Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (4 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)
Preflop: Hero is SB with 8 , A . UTG calls, Button calls, Hero completes, BB checks. Flop: (4 SB) 5 , 6 , 8 (4 players)</font>Hero bets</font>, BB folds, UTG raises</font>, Button 3-bets</font>, Hero caps</font>, UTG calls, Button calls. Turn: (8 BB) T (3 players)</font>Hero bets</font>, UTG calls, Button calls. River: (11 BB) 2 (3 players)</font>Hero bets</font>, UTG folds, Button calls. Final Pot: 13 BB ok, so I'm pretty sure this is one of the worst played hands of mine as of recently. Both players have been playing LAG but my sample size is pretty limited. In reanalyzing my hand there are too many places here where I gave away money, so basically, whats my line on the flop, turn, river? |

I don't see a problem in betting out on the flop. There's a good chance you'll be winning, with a good draw, against just two opponents. The raise and re-raise makes me think, though, that at least one of your opponents has an overpair and is trying to protect his hand. If so, you're behind but have plenty of outs. If not, somebody's caught a really good hand but may slow down on the turn fearing you have a bigger flush (as they can't have the A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]).
I'd just call the 3-bet, then call on the turn and then have a serious think about folding on the river (when the club doesn't come) but probably call for one more bet. I don't think your pair of 8s is going to be good here often to justify being so aggressive on the turn and the river. |

I'm guessing you lost the pot to someone with some sort of lame flush, but I think overall your play is fine. Betting the river and check/calling is pretty close. I always play top pair + nut flush draw pretty fast. You are either WAY ahead, have a small equity edge, or a tiny equity deficit, so JAM IT. You didn't have to eat a raise from a better hand on the turn or the river, so it's possible your 4-bet saved you just a little bit of money.
Don't feel bad when you push small edges and lose. The monster pots you rake in when you win more than makes up for it. |
