So long as our Food and Drink forum welcomes "ZOMG I"M DRRNUK!!!" posts in the spirit of the current Alcohol forum, I support it.

All,

#1: Health/Fitness is not a good fit w/ Food/Drink in a potential forum split.

#2: I remind you of my suggestions as alternatives to the LoL/TQZ split during that discussion (Health/Fitness is a specific addition to add somewhere in there):

Leisure and Entertainment forum:
Arts & Entertainment
Food/Drink/Restaurants/Bars
Style/Clothing/Fashion
Hobbies/Pastimes

OOT
Education/Career/Business
Relationships/Love Advice
Hot Girls/nsfw/etc
Jokes/Web links/Video clips/Funny stuff
Other

Another potential division might be:

Non-Poker Activities forum:
Arts & Entertainment
Food/Drink/Restaurants/Bars
Style/Clothing/Fashion
Hobbies/Pastimes
Education/Career/Business
Relationships/Love Advice

And OOT would be exactly that, anything not covered in any other forum. Included in that might be:
Hot Girls/nsfw/etc
Jokes/Web links/Video clips/Funny stuff
Other

To all,

Why not just keep food, drink etc. in OOT like before? Why do we need a Mod playground, I mean I forget to even go in there and that we even have that place. Just keep fine dining, recipes, spirits etc. in OOT and you will get more input and traffic. No need for YET another new forum.

The Mod Playground exists primarily as a place to either try out temporary forum ideas, or to just goof off with some forum idea that's fun, but doesn't really have any staying power for a week or so. It's not intended to permanently be the Alcohol forum.

Also, one of the things, IMHO, that's made the Alcohol forum work so well, is exemplified in Miles's beer thread in there. It started out with standard discussion, much like would be seen in OOT, but then, people would either go out and try something reviewed in the thread and report back, or pick up something new to add to the discussion. That sort of persistence is virtually impossible in OOT, where the immense traffic overwhelms many threads, and follow up discussion like that just doesn't happen. You really need a MySpace Trainwreck in order for a thread to be meaningfully bumped after a couple of days w/o discussion in OOT. In a Food and Drink forum, though, I'd not only like to see a thread where someone whips up a particular dish or cocktail or whatever, but I'd also like to hear a follow up report from someone else who made it a few days later.

One of the reasons I liked the food and alcohol forums separate from OOT was that each thread wasn't just another opportunity to try to insult eachother. I like OOT, and enjoy reading & making snarky comments every once in a while, but the food forum had a distinctly different feel.

Just my 2c.

The threads there are quite good, and the discussion is largely intelligent & flame free. It just takes a long time for good threads to develop, since they're only getting a few responses a day.
