Your answer will always be a number divisible by 9. All they do is change the picture so it looks as if it's random.

The symbols just change places. Every multiple of 9 is the same symbol. Let your two digit number be XY which is the same as 10*X + Y. This means the result after subtracting(X+Y) will be 9X.
