[ QUOTE ]
why do you like empire strikes back so much? [/ QUOTE ] I'm high and completely polluted so bear with me. Simplistic arguement - If you view the films in the way that they are made and pop culture hasn't inflitrated your braing yet one line and one line alone makes this the greatest of the series and one of the best movies ever. "I am your father." When I was 7 (I watched this on video several years after it came out) I was completely floored. How could our hero come from the ultimate villian? This just blew me apart. There were a couple of other things to note here. The whole deception thing played another big role in us thinking "How could this little bizarre and silly green man be the mightest of all Jedi's?" The love story between Han and Leia really started to come forward. I dunno, maybe I'll take another crack at this tomorrow but I will say this my ex-girlfriend was 23 this last year when she first saw her first Star Wars movie. I would say she is fairly intelligent and has an above average, but not great taste and judgement of movies. She watched them in order from Episode 1-6. The only one she watched in theaters was 3. Also she was exposed to pop culture growing up and was well aware that anakin went to the dark side and was luke and leia's father and all that. So none of the suprise factor was there for her at all. To her Empire was the best of the movies. She could tell immediately that the first of the series that wasn't directed by George Lucas was Episode 5. Even though she knew all of the spoilers that made this movie great she evaluated this one to be the best. I respect that opinion being that I grew up watching all of these films in the order they were made as opposed to sequence. I really wish that Lucas would have produced and written 1-3 but would have given them to someone else to direct. 1 sucked and 2 and 3 were pretty good but I believe they would have been much better in someone else's hands. Give it to some up and coming director and we would have had a classic. |

![]() Well listen, how do you think I feel about it?... Can you *imagine* how I feel about it, Dmitri?... Why do you think I'm calling you? Just to say hello?... *Of course* I like to speak to you!... *Of course* I like to say hello!... [/ QUOTE ] Classic. Nice choice. Easily in my top 5. But it should be pretty obvious to everyone what my favorite movie is from my avatar: |
