[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] You are just being ridiculous here. They qualified through the European qualifying. Part of the freaking country is in Europe. Not sure what other evidence you need. [/ QUOTE ] Well, Israel is also in the European qualifying groups. Does that make Israel an European country? [/ QUOTE ] as far as football is concerned: yes. [/ QUOTE ] LOLOLOLOL [/ QUOTE ] It sounds funny but it is true. As well as playing the vEuropean qualifiers they also play in the UEFA cup, UEFA champions league,... [/ QUOTE ] No. It's not. And when people talk about European soccer, they are most certainly not talking about Israel, or even Turkey. Too funny. [/ QUOTE ] When people discuss european teams' results, they'll be looking at UEFA results. [/ QUOTE ] No. They'll be looking at European results. If they are looking at UEFA results, they'll look at UEFA results. |

Their teams play in european competitions, they qualify through UEFA. |

After Italy and England in Europe, you have Spain, Holland, Czech, Portugal, France, Germany, and Sweden, plus solid teams like Denmark and Greece who didn't qualify. [/ QUOTE ] I hope you're not implying that england is one of the two best teams in europe. |

Their teams play in european competitions, they qualify through UEFA. [/ QUOTE ] 100% true. All their top club teams play in the UEFA cup or the Champions League, their international players play in the European Championships, they are all European footballers. It's true Israel are only there because there would be too much trouble if they had to play against other Middle Eastern countries, but that doesn't stop them being European. The "Football World" counts for a lot more than you would think. |

Against Italy (except for Thursday), because they are a bunch of whiny cheaters with arrogant fans.
Against Spain, because their coach said that racist remark about Henry during training. Against Poland, because they strike me as racist too. Semi-for Germany, because they wouldn't let Ahmadinejad into the country. Also, while they've always struck me as boring, they seem more entertaining this time. For England, but I don't know why. For Netherlands, because they seem fun. For Switzerland, because my friend is from there. |

[ QUOTE ]
If anything is clear its that the Euro teams are woefully overrated. The constant chirping about how those teams rule, other teams not named Brazil suck, blah blah blah clearly isn't remotely close to accurate. The African teams are obviously unlucky to not have a better record, the South American teams are rolling. The international soccer scene is changing. The 2002 WC semifinals had Korea, Brazil, Turkey and a very very lucky German team. Bah. The Euros could've gone 0-4 in terms of claiming semifinal spots. Heck, they only went 2-8 claiming quarterfinal spots, exactly as many as CONCACAF. Say it with me now: "O-ver-Ra-ted (clap) (clap) (clap clap clap). The refs have been just awful in their support of those teams also, see Portugul and Italy yesterday for examples. Plus, the Euro teams flop more than any other side. Basically, if there's a European team playing, I'm rooting for the other side, and if it's too Euros, then I choose the lesser of two evils. Go World! BTW, is there anything more fun than rooting for the African and East Asian teams? I love those squads. [/ QUOTE ] hey clark it is too bad you didn't say the european teams were woefully UNDERrated because than you would have been right on the money seeing as the final 4 teams are all europeans. |

[/ QUOTE ] Well, all I can say is that the only scorecard that counts to me, my bankroll, suggests that I'm pretty in tune with where the value is on the WC matches. |
