Default Re: Is it possible to beat the rake at 1/2 limit hold \'em?

[ QUOTE ]
The highest limit game I can find in FL is Straight $2 limit hold 'em. It has $1/$2 Blinds and $2 bets on each street capped at $8. The rake is 10% up to $5 plus $1 for the Bad Beat plus $1 for a dealer tip. Is it possible to beat the rake in a game like this?

[/ QUOTE ]

funniest thing about this is i know the games that run there b/c my mom likes to play there occasioanlly. if the ones in FL you play are the ones in ft.lauderdale hollywood park, then they are likely beatable, albeit not by much.

the play is just sooooo attrocious that the amount lost in rake is likely entirely compensated for in increased edge. people dont adjust to the $2straight structure where it is more costly than normal to draw. since a good % of your profit comes from those that fail to fold, your profit will be larger here than in a normal 1/2 game.

im a little scatterbrianed now so i hope that made sense.
