Default Diet @ energy

I've always believed the best way to lose weight was naturally through diet and exercise. But so far i've never been able to sustain a diet or exercise program...So i'm looking for a chemical edge.

I'm considering this weight loss system:

"A comprehensive diet and exercise program to help you achieve the body youdesire. This 60 day program has been scientifically designed to assist you in reaching your weight management goals.Features three premium supplements and includes an easy-to-follow total wellness booklet that provides a sample meal plan, exercise tips, advice on maintaining a healthy outlook and a journal tohelp you stay on your weight loss plan.

CONTROL ACS
Clinically shown to reduce food intake and control calories at the beginning of your diet. Control ACS also includesingredients to boost energy and metabolism.* Enhanced with B-vitamins that are essential for carbohydrate metabolism and energy production and chromium that supports your metabolism by assisting insulin.*

TONALIN® CLA
One of the best-selling supplements among dieters.Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) is a naturally occurring healthy fatty acid that is present in foods often excluded when restricting dietary intake. Each capsule supplies 1,000mg of CLA made from clinically studied Tonalin®, one of the highest quality conjugated linoleic acids available.

FIBER
Each daily two capsule serving supplies approximately 1000mg of dietary fiber from psyllium seed husks. Daily consumption of dietaryfiber provides bulk, eases passage and helps to speed transit time through the digestive tract.* Increasing your daily fiber intake can also help you feel full, so you eat less andwait longer between meals.* In addition, fiber helps to gently flush away unwanted debris and accumulated toxins from the digestive system."

I'm aslo looking for a general vitamin since my diet sucks:

GNC MEGA MEN

Anyone have any experience with either of these? All thoughts and reccomendations welcome

Ephedra was banned. Ephedrine HCL, the synthetic version, is still legal, and works better. Check out Vasopro by Mega-Pro. Stacking 200 mg of caffeine with 25 mg ephedrine HCL is dirt cheap and will be more effective than any of the prepackaged stuff that's way overpriced.

As for the stuff you posted, it looks worthless (vitamin is OK though). You should be getting enough fiber from your diet anyway, and psyllium husk is just Metamucil. CLA is not going to help you much, if any, especially if you're just starting out.

But the most important thing to note is that these are just supplements. If you don't have your diet and exercise in place so that you're running a caloric deficit, there's nothing you can take that will make you lose weight (except DNP, but nobody wants to go there).

aggie,

Here's something I read on CNN today that sounds pretty reasonable when it comes to diet:

Eat fewer foods of animal origin; more fruits and vegetables; more plant-based protein from soy foods, for example. Make sure you've got omega-3 fatty acids in your diet, either from oily fish, or fish oil supplements. Try to reduce consumption of quick-digesting carbohydrate foods, which are the ones made from any kind of flour, sugar, high fructose corn syrup.

And try to eat more of the slower-digesting carbohydrate foods, which are beans, whole grains, packed grains, winter squashes, sweet potatoes. Really learn the differences between good fats and bad fats. Use olive oil as a main cooking oil. Include nuts, seeds, avocados, in your diet.

Take a good multivitamin, multimineral supplement. Add things to the diet, like green tea and dark chocolate and red wine, in moderation, if you want their antioxidant effects.

I don't really know anything about Dr. Andrew Weil, but it's from an inteview with him: interview

I have taken ephedra based products in the past. My advice if you decide to go that route is to be cautious about when you take it in relation to exercise. Plan your day so that you can exercise BEFORE you take the pill no matter what, and never take it too late at night when you plan to work out the next morning.

Basically, your heart will be racing to no end if you try and take it before working out so don't say I didn't warn you. PM me if you have any other questions about it or working out in general. Oh and F t-nation go to menshealth.com and check out the forums great place to start.
