I think the blow isn't bad emotionally

Wow, I think you couldn't be any more off base on this one. I'm obviously not a Manning apologist, but I'm damn sure he wants to win as much as anyone. I'm sure he's just about suicidal right at this very moment.

[/ QUOTE ]

Really, I don't know. I'm sure he's rattled right now, but as I said, they're professionals and they'll "get over it". I was more refering to next season when it matters, because Peyton and the Colts have all off season to brood if they so choose without it effecting next season.

Well, I could obviously be wrong but I'm also damn sure that past failures were in all of their minds from the time the Steelers went up 7-0.

I guess I just give Peyton more credit (no suprise there). I just see "Ok they're in cover 2, they're soft in the middle, I'll hot route Stokely accross to capitalize" going through his mind in the heat of the battle, not "Well I'm gonna choke again like all those NE fans say I do."

Only Peyton knows for sure, you'd have to ask him.

If you line up the Colts and Steelers 100 times, the colts might win 95, but not today, and the Steelers advance.

[/ QUOTE ]

LOL! Good one. I'm surprised you'd give the Steelers that much of a chance. Actually, the Steelers were probably more like 99-1 against. If the Steelers and Colts play 100 games, the Steelers only would win one. Luckily for the Steelers, they just happened to win this first one. Look for them to lose the next 99 matchups.

If the 99 are in the regular season and the 1 is in a playoff elimination game..........

Ok I admit defeat, the, what appears to be, many layers of sarcasm have made my eyes go crossed.
Are you saying the Steelers were not a large underdog to the colts?

I submit that the Steelers were not 19-1 against as your original post implied. I would say something more like 5:4 or 3:2.

segue: Oh snap! I just saw Manning slam his O-line in his post-game press conference. What a loser.

I'm really rethinking the coaching choice to sit all those guys for so long.

[/ QUOTE ]

That didn't seem to help any. However, as a professional, it is your responsibility to get yourself psyched up for the game and to stay in playing shape.

This has got to be a terrible blow to the whole Indy team psychologically. They finally beat the Pats (in the regular season at least), they go 13-0 with serious talk of an undefeated season, and then they get knocked out in their first playoff game. This failure will definitely be in the back of Manning's mind when, or if, he ever makes the playoffs again. Such a great failure for what everyone thought was a great team.

[/ QUOTE ]

I usually defend Manning, but I would be shocked if he ever has a better chance to win a ring than this. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and they let it slip through their fingers.

Default \"I had some protection problems\"

This is Manning's comment after the game.

"I'm trying to be a good team mate here, but I had some protection problems."

What a 100% douchebag comment.

I would have liked to get 99 to 1 on the Steelers. You taking any bets next week?

Yeah, that was a total wuss move. Manning has just confirmed that he is not a leader and never will be.
