btw edge, nuttin personal. im sure you are a nice guy.

If you're being straight with me, then we're ok. We both get caught up in our own teams, and like I've said before, its fun having a rivalry. Just gotta be a line somewhere (even if we don't actually know each other in real life). Its all good, just sports.

[/ QUOTE ]

yeah i am being SU. of course i will still probably cross that line in the future, but thats what makes me, well me

still, neva anything personal

[/ QUOTE ]

As long as its understood, then its gravy. You know I try not to make TOO much of an ass of myself (with the exception of one stupid baseball comment).

You bringing the beer for next week's AFC title game?

[/ QUOTE ]

Speaking of that game am I the only one who'd rather watch a IND/NE "consolation game" at the Rose Bowl or some neutral field, then the real game next week.

He's always been on a team where he has to do very good in order for his team to win. So naturally, when he doesn't do awesome, its very difficult for his team to win, simple as that. Did Elway all of a sudden learn how to not choke, or did his team just get better?

[/ QUOTE ]

This is laughable. The Colts were 13-0 this year. There was talk of an undefeated season. Their play harkened back to that great Miami Dolphis team. The Colts had the best team in the NFL until they played their first playoff game. Then: ack, ack, ack, Manning chokes. He can't even throw the ball when it counts because the monkey on his back won't let go of his throat.

Personally, I now think Manning is basically done as a pro. This was his best chance and he knows it. He has a few more mediocre seasons in front of him and then he'll join Dan Marino in the studio. It also looks like Eli will follow in Peyton's footsteps.

[/ QUOTE ]

You do realize that if Vandy just made the FG, everyone would be talking about how clutch Manning was. How he sent the punting unit off, and willed his team to comeback.
Instead some idiot kicker misses a FG and Manning "chokes again".

[/ QUOTE ]

Some people act like Manning can just wave a magic wand and make the team weaknesses go away.

Don't forget that Reggie Wayne dropped a very catchable ball in the end zone that would have given the Colts the lead. That was a terrific throw from Manning. That wasn't a choke by Peyton. It was clutch, and he was clutch.

Probably best not to waste the keystokes buddy. But if it makes you feel better, I mostly agree, although I would say running the ball there, with 2 timeouts, might have yeilded better results.

He didn't need to do "very well" in order for them to have avoided elimination in recent years. He merely needed to perform "average".

[/ QUOTE ]

Manning performed better than average in the postseason coming into this game. Counting games against elite defenses and games in the snow, Manning had a qb rating of 89.2 coming into the game.

I'm really rethinking the coaching choice to sit all those guys for so long.

[/ QUOTE ]

That didn't seem to help any. However, as a professional, it is your responsibility to get yourself psyched up for the game and to stay in playing shape.

This has got to be a terrible blow to the whole Indy team psychologically. They finally beat the Pats (in the regular season at least), they go 13-0 with serious talk of an undefeated season, and then they get knocked out in their first playoff game. This failure will definitely be in the back of Manning's mind when, or if, he ever makes the playoffs again. Such a great failure for what everyone thought was a great team.

Well I'm not sure if they're the best team in the NFL or not, but such ratings are largely misapplied. Any Given Sundy...and that's what's great about the NFL. If you line up the Colts and Steelers 100 times, the colts might win 95, but not today, and the Steelers advance.

I think the blow isn't bad emotionally, they'll get over it, it's finanically. With a Super Bowl win, contracts can be renegotiated, players will take a pay cut to win another one (look at NE, probably the best front office in all of football). Now however, if the cap doesn't change, it's either Edge or Freeny or Wayne, or any combo thereof are most likely gone.

Wow, I think you couldn't be any more off base on this one. I'm obviously not a Manning apologist, but I'm damn sure he wants to win as much as anyone. I'm sure he's just about suicidal right at this very moment.

Really, I don't know. I'm sure he's rattled right now, but as I said, they're professionals and they'll "get over it". I was more refering to next season when it matters, because Peyton and the Colts have all off season to brood if they so choose without it effecting next season.

You really think that if he is healthy next year, that there is a less than 90% chance he makes the playoffs?
