I have really mixed feelings about this.

I think companies who try this kind of rubbish deserve to be bankrupt very, very soon.

On the other hand, I really hope they will work out something for you. Especially since you did so many preparations already.

Question:

Bob Ciaffone is/was the public face of Checknraise. Has the Coach had anything to say, either on the home page or somewhere else? If Checknraise's ambassador to the poker community has something to say, it would be of interest.

I have found it interesting that people who probably take their reputation in the gaming world very seriously have wound up endorsing, among others...

Checkamite Poker
Fabulous Poker
Poo Mountain
Highlands Club

It would be unseemly at best to be cashing an endorsement check (or the check from a publisher with funds from all the extra books sold based on visibility at Checknraise) while people who had earned a spot to play in the WSOP had to settle for a bag of Funyuns and reruns on ESPN.

My closing thought is that you aren't totally hosed yet, and you may never be. These people contacted YOU with their plan (if I read this correctly), which is a million percent better than you panicked-like trying to get ahold of them to find all their numbers disco'd and their server down for the count. Clearly they are under some duress or they would not have had to take the measures that they did. But it seems their intentions are honorable and your best shot at some satisfaction is that THEY restore their viability through the health of their room. I have no doubt that starting a business such as theirs is no easy feat and proprietors experience some setbacks as to many wanna-be pros playing at their tables. This may be a case of honorable intentions and a bankroll not currently able to tolerate some current adversity/recent downswings. I will be pulling for you.

[/ QUOTE ] MMMMMM, Funyuns. Now I'm going to have to find me a bag of those and it isn't even 8AM here yet.

I think CnR knew there would be fallout over this. I don't like that they got themselves in this situation and I think they could have been up front about this a bit sooner and saved the 10 of us a lot of disappointment. But if they pay me the whole $11K and what they owe the others I'd be satisfied.

I'm a forgiving person once I have time to put a little perspective on things and I believe in giving second chances. If they start making payments as promised, you'll hear it from me first that they're trying to set things right. But if they screw me twice, god help them all.

Do you guys think that CnR is simply trying to pad their wallet? To me, it really does sounds like they have cashflow problems. The key is to figure out whether the problem stems from poor planning or from weak earnings. If someone dropped the ball and forgot to set up a fund for the seat payouts, you should be OK. If on the other hand they are facing a credit crunch then you are probably screwed.

It seems unlikely that its just option A, that someone dropped the ball and forgot to set up a fund. If that was the case, but they were financially sound, don't you think they'd just pay it out of their regular revenue rather than the public relations nightmare created by admitting that they have cash flow problems? Poker Room also needs to be held accountable for this, this is the third skin on their network that has done something rogue-ish.

there's the word...rogue-ish.

i would PAB at casinomeister and try to get them rogued. I have had all kinds of problems with pokerroom and its skins in the past, so I haven't played there in a year and a half (just like party poker). again why play at places that are known for having problems. They should be officially rogued.

From Ciaffone's website (http://www.pokercoach.us/GameplayingSites.html):

ChecknRaise Poker This site a great place to play poker. Their philosophy is to put a lot of emphasis on KEEPING their players, rather than simply getting traffic, so they are offering lots of benefits to their players. I have worked extensively with their software programmers, and their site features a lot of my columns and other material. They have highly creative leadership and staff. Please contact me if you would like more info on this nice new place to play poker online.
