[ QUOTE ]
i'm 26 and i live in vancouver, canada, although i spend more time outside of canada than i do in it. i'm a british citizen but apart from the first three years of my life, some summers and a year in my early 20s, i don't live there. i was almost deported from canada earlier this year. i once left malaysia before they deported me, i'm unsure what my current status there is. i lived in a diplomatic compound in riyadh for the worst seven months of my life.

i sorta proposed recently to a pinay in san francisco, but she is living with another guy and i'm dating one girl from argentina and one girl from korea and probably this ridiculously sweet and cute mehicana in the very near future. it's kind of a [censored] up situation. don't ask.

i don't really have a job or a career. when people ask me what i do i lie outrageously. i've been telling people i'm a recruiter for a right wing think tank lately. i have a degree in comp sci from ubc, i was only a programmer for about two months before i realized it was destroying my soul. so then i got into advertising, banking and sales before i realized those two were destroying my soul. i worked for a while painting for film productions, but the hours are long and crappy and the work is inconsistent. right now i'm enjoying depleting my investments and my savings before i go back to school to learn to teach, probably.

i swim a lot, and love to sail but don't do it nearly enough. i like books, but not fiction so much. i watch lost, big love and the sopranos whenever they're on, and law and order six times a day. top gear on bbc is my favorite show though.

i play some poker, but only so i can buy expensive clothes. i should have been born italian instead of irish.

did anyone else draw the same conclusion? lol

if this was meant as a subtle joke... awesome
if this is true and coincidental... awesome

it's all true. i only lie about my occupation to save the weird looks you get when you say you're unemployed. i used 'i'm a hustla, yo. you do what you gotta do, right?' for a while, but that got weird looks too.

Guess I'll chime in.

I'm 34, and I live in Orlando Fl, been here for about 20 years and I love it. I'm an ex-entrepeneur, I sold my last business about 7 years ago. For the last 3 years I've been playing poker professionally, for better or worse. I've got a girlfriend who I've been with for a little over a year, strange relationship, as she's a muslim and I'm agnostic.

Politically I'm a die hard libertarian. I'm very pro choice, pro legalization of soft drugs, hell, I believe hard drugs should be given out free in large quantities for those that choose to kill themselves. Just don't steal my TV. I believe in much less government spending and involvement. Oh, and I love guns.

As for my poker career, my best tourney win has been a 100k guaranteed, with some close finishes. I tend to play 30/60 limit, a bit higher or lower depending on my BR.

As for how I spend my time, I love traveling, eating out, drinking way too much, reading a ton, watching far too much TV, and of course reading 2+2.

As for drugs, used to do alot of weed, X, acid, shrooms. Haven't done any of em for quite a long time, except weed, which reminded me why I can't smoke it anymore. I was like Woody Allen on acid, neurotic as hell, then I started puking like a 15yr old girl on winecoolers. That sealed it for me, I'm drug free now heh

I'm in Orlando too. I moved here last year from San Francisco when Disney recruited me to train animals for one of their shows. After a year working for the mouse, I quit and became a HS Biology Teacher in January of this year. Right now I'm enjoying my summer off, trying to hack just as a poker player.. I still work part time training animals for Disney.

I'm 27 (28 in July) and graduated from UC-Berkeley in 2001 and started working in the zoo industry right away. I started playing poker about 2 years ago and won a 2005 WSOP main event seat through Gaming Club. I made it to the end of the first day (about 12 hours of poker). I survived as long as I could, but losing with AA twice and KK once didn't give me much breathing room.

Poker sucks in Florida. The largest cash games available in casinos are 1\2 or straight 2. I play mostly online now, but there are local bar tournaments that lead into a big tournament for a WPT buyin. I took 3rd overall in the first Orlando finals in February and won a $300 buyin to a Suncruz gaming cruise tournament.

Welcome to Orlando Valence

Yeah poker is non existant aside from house games in Orlando, of which there are a ton. But I prefer online to those. If you travel to the Hard Rock in Tampa, they have some $240 buy in single table tournaments that are easy to beat.

240 is above my bankroll, but yea I know there are some higher buyin tourneys out there. I just wish that Florida's gambling laws weren't so retarded. I had found a local house game in my neighborhood, but I took all the money in 4 straight games and they stopped inviting me.

Runkmud have you played or heard of Final Table Tour? That's the bar tournaments I was talking about. They are pretty fun most of the time.

Yep, I've heard of it, but haven't played in it. For me, bars are for drinking hehe. I just think that it's an awful amount of time to put in for a tournament vs the reward.

Hi, I think I'm the old man of this group, just having turned 50 last April. I’m the CFO of a real estate development company in the NE USA. We have developed over 50 shopping centers with a value of almost $1 billion in the last 15 years. I used to practice law and have an advanced law degree (LLM) in Taxation. Someone in this thread mentioned they favored a flat tax; which is a lousy idea. I am a liberal, a card carrying member of the ACLU in fact, so I support a progressive income tax, even though it would disfavor me personally. From a tax policy perspective, I think the US government should institute a VAT but provide for low income refundable tax credits to eliminate, its regressive aspects.

On the personal side, I have been married to the same woman for almost 24 years. We have two children; a girl 19 who just finished her first year of college and a boy 15, who will finish his sophomore year in high school in a week or so. My main diversions are watching sports and going to the movies. I’m a huge Red Sox fan and the World Series win in 2004 will allow me to die a happy man. Currently, I drink too much but have stopped doing most other drugs. I still smoke the occasional joint (once or twice a year) and will do some prescription painkillers or anti-depressants for recreational purposes but no longer do any cocaine or hallucinogens. I don’t regret doing drugs in the past, feeling it’s a personal choice. I think I would have avoided cocaine altogether though if I was doing it over; it led to some personal and financial problems. Watch the movie The Boost starring James Woods, it hits close to home for me. We try to take at least two vacations a year and have started to really enjoy cruising. We’ll be taking our seventh cruise the end of this month.

I started playing poker on line less than two years ago. I play only for recreational purposes but it has been more fun since I started reading the twoplustwo threads. They turned me from a loser into a consistent, although small, winner. I used to read more and wish I still did. I still read the Classics on occasion as well as current serious fiction with some history and biography thrown in. For light reading I enjoy Carl Haaisen, Elmore Leonard and Kurt Vonnegut. To throw in some intellectual snobbery, I have read all of Thomas Pynchon’s works.

My goal is to put my two kids through school and retire, or actually semi-retire. I would still like to work but not at anything as involved as my present job. I am trying to convince my DW to move to Chatham on Cape Cod. She thinks it’s too crowded to live there in the summer, although we have vacationed there over a dozen times, and too quiet the rest of the time. I have been working on her for years and she may come around.

Ok, I suppose I'll go.

I'm 19, live in Toronto and am one of the few females of POG. Went to highschool here and hated it because it was always so boring. Went through my drug phase when I was 14-17. Smoked a lot of weed, did some E, coke, alot of ketamine at one point, and some pain killers. Don't do any drugs anymore but I still drink on the weekends.

My biggest accomplishment came in the summer of 2004 when I was on the junior national rifle team and got to go the England to compete internationally. I did pretty well there, won a bunch of awards and some money (70 pounds woohoo). I dont shoot anymore because I dont have any money for it but I would like to in the future.

I finished my first year of university at Queens this past year and was pretty disappointed with that whole scene. I don't particularly like going to keggers and watching a bunch of drunk idiots throw up and generally act stupid. I'm very introverted so I prefer hanging out with close friends more than going to a big anonymous party. Anyways, I'm majoring in astrophysics right now and plan on going to the University of Toronto to get a masters and PhD in the same subject.

After all that I want a job doing research in the field, so I think that means I either get a job at an astrophysics institute or at a university. I also like to write, although I havent done any of that in a while, so I'd like to pursue that in the future and hopefully get something published.

Started playing play money at Stars around Oct. 2004 after watching Rounders and have been at the real money tables for over a year. Hoping that I will soon be able to support myself through school with poker, but still need to move up in limits to make that happen.

Thats it I think.
