Are you prepared to quit over this issue?

If so, do everything within your legal rights. Take the issue to the school board, and take it to your local newspaper as well. Spread the word that this is happening.

The school board needs to know how your admins are performing.
Other teachers need to know that this could happen to them.
Parents need to know that their kids are getting the shaft.
Kids need to be informed, and they can choose to be a force on their own.

Go up the chain in the most professional manner you can handle.

Good luck!

Edit: Just saw that you don't want to quit. Still think the issue needs escalating, just more delicately.

i'm just a guy who teaches high school. it is not worthy of media attention.

the principal and TAP ARE the administration. the board would never get involved, as it is the job of the administration to deal with these issues.

other teachers know that there is a [censored]-job going on in the science department, but there is not much they can do.

getting rid of bad teachers is not easy. once one is tenured, there is TONS of red tape to go thorugh to get of them. you can't just fire them, as the union is a big bully.

[/ QUOTE ]
Once those schedules get set, how much do they change in the following years? How badly do the other 2 teachers need to perform in order for you to pass them next year? How about the year after that? Once they get 3 years in those classes, where do you stand?

Hey, I don't care if you teach the freshman class for the next 10 years. But if you stand up for what you believe, you can teach your students a more valuable lesson.

Sorry, tough deal...good luck.

A student who I had as a junior and just graduated was appalled to hear that TTWC will potentially be teaching all the advanced classes, and offered to get some of the best kinds in the school to go piss in the principal's ear about TTWC's incompetence. Do I accept this offer?

[/ QUOTE ]

From an outsider (of the school system) looking in, it seems to me that to accept this offer would be “standard” (as they say here on the forums). While this might accomplish your goal (and it probably will, especially if enough noise is made) it is unprofessional, imo. I don’t have a better plan of attack, but I’ll try to think of one since I don’t want to just give a negative opinion.

Have sex with TTWC, then when she wants to date seriously, tell her she's too fat. She'll leave town.

Didn't bother to read past the OP, so it might be covered. One thing I know about new administrators (I used to teach, and my wife currently teaches) is that they have zero backbone with parents. Take up the students' offer and let the parents raise the hell.

Quitting is poor form. If you do get boned, then go through the year doing the bare minimum for the other teachers and continue to kick ass as a teacher. Maintain your relationship with the old principal for reference reasons (at the very least).

I don't know how much I begrudge TNG here, but it kinda baffles me how much that fellow teachers are unable to budge and insist on bending you over here. That's ridiculous.

Good luck, bro.

it ain't me. i am assuming that "ultimate" is ultimate frisbee, and we don't do that. i make my students work for the most part. although i do fire a dart gun around the room, and a blowdart with a 2 inch nail that can travel 60mph+.
