[ QUOTE ]
Use former students to your advantage as much as possible, that's for sure. Otherwise, if they are unable to incite change, raise bloody hell and if nothing happens then let me stake you in poker.

[/ QUOTE ]

I am all for "raising bloody hell", but what does that entail? Is raising my voice going to do any good? Is threatening to quit going to do any good?

I think you should do all of the above.
Accept the offer of your former students.
Discuss the incompetence of TTWC with the principal
Meet with the TAP, tell her of your concerns and propose the new schedule.

You have to decide if you're willing to walk out over this, but if it were me I think I would. There are lots of teaching jobs and other places in the country besides MN.

Challenge TAP to HU 30/60 at Canturbury.

Play your best.

Lose 50 BB and hope she will be mollified.

unfortunately, i kinda like it here and i like the school i am at. i built the physics program from nothing, and i'd hate to walk away from that. also, quitting would not look good to future employers, as i committed to coming back.

This is important in many different scenarios.

[ QUOTE ]

A student who I had as a junior and just graduated was appalled to hear that TTWC will potentially be teaching all the advanced classes, and offered to get some of the best kinds in the school to go piss in the principal's ear about TTWC's incompetence. Do I accept this offer?

[/ QUOTE ]

This is not a bad if you can be sure it won't look like you put them up to it. If the new principal finds out, even if he just finds out you leaked the info, you will be [censored]!

Given that there's not very many ways they could have found out about this I don't know if this is really possible.

[ QUOTE ]

I am one of the more popular teachers in the school (My 2nd year I was voted by the seniors to be the faculty speaker at graduation. Every year since I have been one of the 3-4 nominated to speak, but I have declined so as to give other teachers an opportunity), and my AP students score very well (much better than the national average, and better than most other AP students at the school). Basically, I am very good at my job.

[/ QUOTE ]

Can you prove all this?

Because I think what you really need to do is show:

You>THG>TTWC

As far as TAP goes it doesn't sound like she has it in for you, she's just stupid and took the path of least resistance.... You're unlikely to cry and being on leave you weren't around to pester her like TTWC was.

Are you unionised (public school?) if so you can probably file a grievance due to your senority if they give THG preferrential treament

Are you prepared to quit over this issue?

If so, do everything within your legal rights. Take the issue to the school board, and take it to your local newspaper as well. Spread the word that this is happening.

The school board needs to know how your admins are performing.
Other teachers need to know that this could happen to them.
Parents need to know that their kids are getting the shaft.
Kids need to be informed, and they can choose to be a force on their own.

Go up the chain in the most professional manner you can handle.

Good luck!

Edit: Just saw that you don't want to quit. Still think the issue needs escalating, just more delicately.

yeah, part of me hates the kids idea cuz it will look like i put them up to it, and i don't want that. but at the same time, they are the ones who know and have the most info on the subject.

i can't prove i am good at my job, at least on this forum. i guess you'll just have to take my word for it.

the union can do nothing. i have a job, but what i teach is up to the administration.

No, I mean can you prove it to the new principal?

I think the key is proving to him that:

You>THG>TTWC

Any way the old principal can give you a good reference or is she persona non grata?
