negreanu's raise with QJ against Unabomber was a big mistake. Laak will never ever call with a hand that is beaten, and will probably never ever fold a better hand.

[/ QUOTE ]

I disagree. His "act" may have been a big mistake, but not his raise. First, that board was damn draw heavy and top 2 was quite vulnerable. And while Unabomber had a great read, who knows if he would have overplayed TPTK if Daniel had quickly and quietly raised rather than feigning weakness.

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree. Daniel had to raise that flop, it was insanely dangerous for top 2 pair to just call and allow someone to draw, so many cards could come to kill his hand.

His mistake was opening his mouth. If he just raised and sat in silence, I think Phil would have called. The fold isn't terrible for Negraneu though, before Laak gave away his hand, Daniel could have thought he was against an OESD or FD and wouldn't mind the fold. Once he had Laak's hand nailed to AQ, he wanted a call but by then it was too late, he blew it with his "brutal" comment.

i gained alot of respect for laak with that laydown (aq). however i wonder if daniel would have been quiet if he would have still folded.

it seems like daniel talks too much while he is in hands.

[/ QUOTE ]

Laying down TPTK in a huge cash game isn't really that noteworthy. It was a good laydown, but any decent player should be able to make this.

Kaplan couldn't be more results oriented if he tried.

Kinda weak first episode.

That QJ vs AQ hand was soooo over-dramatic. I'm pretty sure Laak would have nearly insta-fold it if the cameras weren't there.

I'm sure he insta-folds in another scenario, but I'm also sure he watched the first season.

You are absolutely right. Luckily at least in this episode the players were talking a lot and Gabe and AJ can STFU a little.

1. i don't believe that DN talking w/top two was such a horrible idea. that's a play some donkey makes at the 1/2 nl table, and they both know that. it makes it look like a total trap/look weak play, which is so obvious that laak might believe it as some sort of reverse tell. as you could see, i think the psychology involved in that hand almost got laak to call as a simple reraise in that spot might be an instafold for laak any other time.

2. how awesome was that when the cocktail chick is bending over while matusow picks up 88 i believe. gabe makes a comment about the nice pair and hilarity ensues. highlight of the episode IMHO.
