Default weird issue with laptop, HELP!

okay, so here it is. I turn on my laptop, fine. Then I run my wireless internet configuration and the computer gets really loud and slows down to the point where it basically stops. Then I can CTR ALT DEL, end explorer.exe (not good), and then I lose my icons and taskbar and stuff, but my computer runs normal again. WTF?!?!

You probably have some or a lot of viruses, spyware, adware, and malware. Try running some virus scans and adware removers. One that saved my computer is called ewido. It is free for 14-days and it sayed my computer. Another popular program is ad-aware SE personal (free). Try them out and see if it helps.

Don't forget Spybot S&D, which you can get free here.

I recommend Adaware as well, which is available free here.

If you can, I would download these on a different computer and then transfer them to your laptop via a USB flashdrive, cd-rw, floppy, etc. You want to avoid using your wireless internet connection while you use these programs, as the worms/viruses often download more viruses and worms as long as you have an internet connection.

Once you can get your computer online without it going crazy, try the scans at Housecall. These will scan for viruses and other malware via the internet. One last thing, you may want to look into installing a personal firewall if you don't already have one. I personally use ZoneAlarm and really like it. This may prevent some infections and will also disrupt the communications of the viruses/worms if you do get infected. Of course, I would also invest in an anti-virus program (Norton, McAfee, or Trend Micro are all good) if you haven't already.

Good luck!
