as much as everyone hates him now (me included) - there was a time when some of his schtick was fresh and entertaining. [/ QUOTE ] You mean when Kilborn was doing it back in '93? |

When you post your SC ideas, please start a new thread. I'd enjoy watching X's & O's for a few sports, but that's about it. Having such detailed analysis from a coaching perspective would bore the audience to death. I mean there are coaches out there who don't even enjoy (or at least suck at) doing the X's & O's (Doc Rivers, Mo Cheeks).
My idea would be to basically do the same thing SC does, but to better tell the story of each big game. More buildup, more details from the game, more highlights, more opinions from people's whose opinions' matter. Quit wasting time on sports no one cares about, and tone down the annoying personalities, unless it's a personality show like PTI. And less sports hopping. We don't all enjoy watching every sport out there. No offense to our brothers up north, but I hate hockey highlights. |

the problem is if you offer the same thing, only slightly different, you'll never get anywhere. you have to create a niche market and offer something no one else can, and then make that market grow.

[/ QUOTE ] I agree. I just can't envision a niche show that ESPN doesn't already have. I mean there's ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNEWS, ESPN Classic, the OCHO, and also THE MAG, .COM, and RADIO. Among all those options, you basically get whatever else you want. I don't see a niche market where you can offer something that ESPN already doesn't. If it were up to me, I'd just do what they do, but I'd try to do it better. I have no problem with adding unique ideas here and there, but I think to offer something different would possibly be asking for a beatdown in ratings. |

I no longer watch Sportscenter because there is some part of it that annoys me so much, and that is the constant need to dub over highlights with music clips. It aggrevates me to no end the crappy, loud music that they play for short bursts.
Just let me hear the sounds of the game. (I also hate arena music at basketball games while playing, thank god the Pistons don't do that like some teams) |
