Me (12:22:11 AM): right and they don't get any of the rewards like football or basketball players
Me (12:22:20 AM): no cheerleaders

Any additional thoughts on HS wrestling, or is it pretty much summed up above?

i wrestled in HS and dont think much of what you say is accurate, other than that wrestlers aren't looked upon as highly as football/basketball...i think all that stuff about them being the middle between popular and unpopular may just be in your school or based no who you know...

cauliflower ear should be practically nonexistant now that wrestlers wear head gear all the time. and if someone does get it then its their fault or the coaches fault for not maknig them wear headgear at all times...

also, about weight loss, if your coach teaches you how to do it properly it can be done safely w/o real detriment to the wrestler, but if the coach doesn't correctly educate the student as to proper nutrition and not make them cut too much then it can become dangerous and have an extremely negative effect on the wrestlers performance...

as for spitting, its utterly useless and extremely gross, although i and most on my team did it before matches...

and finally, don't hate on wrestling, its insanely difficult...

Our wrestling team were league champs 4 years in a row...we were the kings of our campus...I think our basketball team/football team won that many games a year...but then again 4 out of the 5 starters on our varsity b-ball team were asian....

We don't care about "pep rallies" or cheerleaders, we are in it for the war. Yeah, we have chips on our shoulders because we are warriors. We like to fight and in order to be a good wrestler you need to have a ton of aggression. We also have a lot of pride because we know that do the toughest sport in HS sports and can take anyone else in school in a fight. We could rip through hockey player, football players, and the basketball players were too scared to even talk to us. Ah, good times. We owned the locker room and made the b ball players use the small lockers.

[censored] , were you a basket ball player?

All,

no big suprise that all the wrestlers are taking this way too seriously. totally fits with the profile.

wrestlers, relax and go rub some ointment or a balm on your ears of something.

This thread, especially with the recent addition of jokerthief's post, is taking a turn for the homoerotic (though this is more or less inevitable for any discussion about high school wrestling).
