lol I didn't mean "help" me in that way, I meant if I have an idea it's hard to just write down a vocal lick on sheet paper...it is easier to record and save bits and pieces

nah. he can get a decent AKG condenser with a popfilter and so long as no tv's/fans are on he'll get a good sound and just have to mix down the levels properly, or just bounce it to a vocal wav and bring it into the studio to tweak it more.you can have a GREAT mic and [censored] mixing skills and have a far worse sound than if you mix REALLY well and have an alright mic.

also, my buddy who studied music technology in university just bought a presonus firebox and he says its great. Quote:
