What do you base this on? Oh, nothing? Okay then.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well...Favre did ONLY throw for 4000 yds and 30 TD's last year.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think he threw 36 TDs last season.

Nope..4088 yards...30 Td's. Overall one of his best seasons ever. I have no idea how that guy can say he's slipping.

Whether he's slipping or not, he's not worth anything near a 4th round pick, as proven by the acquisition of Collins in the 9th.

I definitely agree with you. Fantasy wise it wasn't a good pick..it was pretty horrible. Favre may be aging, but he's not slipping.

I'm with the Sports Guy who said last year that Favre is in that "Mid 90's Marino" stage of his career - still good enough to win a few games by himself and puts up good #'s - but he seems to cost his team just as many games with bonehead plays.

[/ QUOTE ] Sorry about being consise.

I actually base this on watching Packers games. In the past few years Favre has had problems under distress throwing interceptions. He also has his most problems when pressure is in his face and he lost both of his guards. No matter how many times he talked about "strengthening his legs" this offseason he is going to be under a lot more pressure this year and be throwing on the run. Which he used to excel at, lately he has been poor.

Okay, that is my tape breakdown. How about some stats.

I think the best breakdowns is between their wins and losses:

In Packers wins last year Favre threw 20 TDs and just 7 INTs in Packers losses he threw 10 TDs and 11 INTs. I'm with most people in thinking the Packers will have more losses this year.

He has also thrown up a couple of games where he has scored less than 10 fantasy points. I'll give you some of the breakdowns of each year average from my oldest fantasy league with our scoring:

2004 - 17.25
2003 - 16.25
2002 - 18.25
2001 - 20.5
2000 - 16.25
1999 - 17.5
1998 - 19.5
1997 - 20.25
1996 - 22.25
1995 - 26

This shows that Favre has been a consistent fantasy preformer over the past few years, however is nowhere near the QB he was in the past. But, we all knew that.

This year Kerry Collins has to be a favorite to throw for 30 TDs. Mainly because his team has no defense (he'll be in high scoring games) and he has a great set of Wide Outs.

By the way, Collins averaged 19 points last year. Before that he basically averaged 15 points with the Giants, but certainly he was being asked to throw less.

By no means am I saying that Brett Favre is no longer a servicable fantasy QB. I just don't see how he can be worth a 4th round pick.

I'm with you on Favre not being worth a 4th. But it seems that everyone was handed some textbook and it says that Collins will throw for 30 td's this year. Culpepper>Collins. Collins have NEVER thrown over 22 td's in a season. Matter of fact he has only exceeded 20 twice in his career. Now's he's supposed to throw 30? I agree Favre will not have the protection he had last year (12 sacks only), but he has always thrown INTs. The same argument of no defense can be made for the Packers..their Def sux and they will be behind most of the time, but to say they lose when Favre throws INT's isn't accurate, he has always thrown INTs. He averaged 2 Td's per game per win and 1.667 Td's per game per loss. Not much of a difference.

Im not sure what kind of fantasy league scoring you have going on there, but to say Favre averaged 1.75 points per game less than Collins last year is outrageous.

Collins played only 14 games so this is what they avg. per game:

Favre: 21.63 comp. 255.5 yds. 1.875Td 1.063 Int .063fb lost
Collins: 20.64 comp. 249.6 yds. 1.5 Td. 1.43 Int .21fb lost

I can't see how Collins averaged more than Favre for the season. I understand the addition of Moss is huge, but everybody is basically expecting an absolute monster season from an unproven QB who has never even sniffed 30 TD's.
