IIRC that was discussed when I used to lurk, but I don't know what came of it (although I'd support such a split)

I hardly ever visit MTT, but I would if it was mostly strategy.

Yeh, I think that would be good too. However, in MTTs there is big prize money for small buyin. Therefore the cutoff should be low, around $25, with rebuys counting as 5x buyin, and big money freerolls and fpps in the higher buyin category. Also, the poster should be allowed some discretion as to where to post.

This forum is also getting cluttered with a zillion posts from $4/180 SNGs and the like and most of the questions are fairly elementary.

Before Strassa's reply, I assumed a split would encourage the noticeably absent posters of yore to return, and this helps to confirm it. If a split will help to bring back some of the missing old schoolers, I'm all for it.

The "official" threads are a lot of fun and really create a sense of camaraderie and help us all deal with the realities of MTT poker through shared experience. I'd hate to see them go.

A separate forum for them is a no-brainer if you ask me.

Agreed. There simply needs to be a crackdown on criteria for official threads.

Voted for split. Please god split. While fun and supportive for some, the sweat [censored] just drowns the forum. Many can remember the day when there was no such thing unless it was a huge tourney where a 2+2'r was VERY deep. Otherwise, all strat all the time.

I remember that.

Only sweat threads for FT of big tournies, Then The Time Is Up (JJ Prodigy) started doing the "official" threads.

I think we should, as dedicated tourney players, expect go deep in the cheaper tournies often......

I believe with all the nonsense non strategy related posts, players who are actually trying to improve their game can't because a thread gets lost so easily. Unless you are a high profile poster, there are usually not enough replies to a lot of the newer players who need the help of this forum more. I have learned quite a bit from reading other posts but I believe it is even more beneficial to get feedbackk on your own play and not just on how others play a hand because only the poster knows the true dynamics of a table and a hand and needs to learn from their own mistakes and good plays and not just from the play of others. Somehow we need to do a better job of this and figure out a way to make this more user friendly for everyone as I understand some concepts are easy for more experienced players but for newer players who don't understand are not getting the proper guidance that should be given to help them improve.

The idea of splitting the forum of different buy in levels or into different area such as early,middle, or end game play I think needs to be considered so that players can actually improve their play instead of turning this forum into just a social gathering.
