There really aren't that many benefits to being an author, or at least a poker one.

[/ QUOTE ]

I dunno, I think becoming a poker author is the best career decision I've made so far in my life.

[/ QUOTE ]

I now want to write a book about becoming a poker author that incorporates your divergent experiences.

Mason?

I live in Ohio. Dave Chappelle's house is in Yellow Springs which is near Dayton. I don't know if he was from around there or not but I'm pretty sure he grew up in DC. Also, living in Ohio is somewhat lame. If I made 100k/month, I wouldn't be living here.

So, this Maroon guy (honestly have no idea who he was before this thread) keeps making ridiculous conclusions. What's up with that? Does he just say stuff to rile up internet people like most trolls or does he really believe what he types?

I'm not sure why Mason took his potshot unless he's looking to get the part in Grumpy Old Men 3.

It would be hard to convince myself I'm any good at poker at all these days if I couldn't win $30k every month

[/ QUOTE ]

I've never heard of you before this thread and you don't know me either but this type of statement from you makes it really obvious why people on these forums think what they think about you. Alot of really good players (capable of making 30k, or even double that in a month) have losing months. Obviously not every other month, but enough that they would never say "I make 30k every month". Either you are the luckiest professional poker player in the universe or you are overstating a bit here.

[ QUOTE ]
What percentage of total 2+2 posters is that? There are over 50k registered here. We're below 0.1%.

[/ QUOTE ]

Come on man, if you are a 30/60 player then you should compare yourself to the 30/60 players who post on 2+2. Everyone knows there are a lot more low limit players than high limit players here, just like there are everywhere. What proponents of 2+2 say is that the best winning players at each limit are more likely to be 2+2 members. So of all the 0.50/1 players out there, the ratio of 2+2er winners to non 2+2er winners is greater than the ratio of all winners to all players. The same goes for every limit.

You want to claim you are better than the average 30/60 player who is also a 2+2er, fine, but claiming to be so elite compared to 2+2 members and then basing that comparison on a group of people who mainly consist of low limit players learning the game is just silly.

Hi JV:

The reason for my shot is in the world of poker/Internet, I, and Two Plus Two Publishing LLC, have been attacked more than anyone else by far. It's often done by people I either don't know or hardly know, and this is my results of trying to understand why.

Best wishes,
Mason

maybe he read 2p2 a year or two ago and saw that the ceiling on winrates was $300/hr and thinks that still holds true. $300/hr is pretty much the medium these days.

Why was I not told of this earlier? Am I eligible for back pay?

And Mason, I would be eternally grateful if you would email me or PM me and tell me why you thought my book "not very good".

[/ QUOTE ]

The fee for me to go through your book and explain all the errors in it to you would be very high, well into the five figures. But for someone who makes hundreds of thousands of dollars a year it should be something that you would want to do.

Of course, these figures are just pocket change to me and I would probably assign this task, assuming you came up with the money, to someone like Ed Miller, but you would still learn a lot.

Otherwise, you'll have to wait for my review of your book which will probably appear in our July magazine. It's already written and you got a 4 on my 1-to-10 scale. Also, keep in mind that my reviews are known to be very accurate, and I have my reputation for producing accurate reviews to uphold.

Maroon:

I'll tell you what. I'm known as an honest broker, how about if I hold the money? (There's nothing I would like better than to hold some of Masked Man's money even if I might have to give it back.)

This comment makes me think much less of Mason. It seems to be directly in the style that everyone here is complaining that Maroon uses: proclaimin your wealth and disinterest in helping someone, all while belittling them with potshots on an interent forum.

Mason, I love your books, but if Maroon is what you guys claim him to be, you just proved yourself equally silly.

I guess no dick-measuing contest is too rediculous for the poker world.

"So basically it comes down to Matt makes fun of 2+2'ers as a joke,"

The amount of vitrol involved makes it seem non-joke like and really petty. If it's just a joke, its a pretty bad one.

[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think it's a joke as much as it's to get a rise out of people. Hey, is that still a common saying? I haven't heard that one in a while.

Like you know that someone is always looking at shadows, kind of creeping around because they scare easily. So you constantly hide behind things and jump out at them when they pass. It's no fun to do that to someone who doesn't scare easily, but that guy who will jump three feet in the air, or the cat is just gonna get naturally exploited if you know that is their weakness. You almost can't help yourself, it's like they are begging for it, lol.

I remember when I first met Matt and found out how he likes to trash talk. I wasn't going for that at all, it's not my idea of good poker (yeah, call me Mr. McManus, I don't care, you gotta respect the game, lol). I told him he'd better never do that in RL, or he'd likely get popped. He said he'd never go that far IRL, he just does it to get under their skin, and it works.

It's like he's picking at scabs. My outlet is my journal, I really get under the skin of a lot of people. I get hate mail and have even gotten a death threat. I know, people on the Internet like to parade around like they are tough, but at first I was truly scared. Since I figured out that they are basically FOS, I opened my journal back up to the public again. It's strange how people can take things so personally. You'd think every ill in the world was some kind of direct insult to them. I believe probably these people suffer from lack of self-esteem, so they see themselves in every post, and decide that you are singling them out and picking on them. I'll write a post and get 50 e-mails from people, all of them claiming I'm writing about THEM. It's bizarre.
