A major contributor to global warming is the increased use of asphalt. Stand in the middle of a football field on a hot day, then go stand in a parking lot. Same amount of sun coming down, much hotter on the asphalt.
Multiply that by millions of parking lots, roads, driveways, side walks, etc, and their increased creation over the last 50 years, and hello global warming...

This effect is taken into account when they take temperature measurements. The idea is to figure out if the temperature of the atmosphere is changing (global warming is the increase of temperature in the atmosphere, not of the Earth itself). So they have some kind of factor by which they reduce the measured temperatures to take this into account. Whether this factor is accurate or not is obviously up for debate.

Anyways, my theory is that Froot Loops taste different when you can see the different colours, but when you close your eyes they all taste the same.

People either resemble pigeons or pumpkins.

Karma is for real.

The more "normal" a person appears, the less I trust them.

There is a second planet earth, orbiting 180 degrees from us. we can't see it because it's always on the other side of the sun.

Woah, thats messed up, but I think you are on to something.

This was pretty widely hypothesized up until the early 20th century, but it has been disproven. Even if we couldn't see it directly we would be able to see its gravitational effects on the other planets.

I do the bite/cross thing to- but mostly because the sharp pain feels good, and better when you do it twice.

Another theory- the fact that there's so few accidents on the freeway is a good sign that humanity can function pretty well when they understand exactly what's a risk.

Yeah, I know. Keppler, and physics and all that junk. But, I'm a dreamer.

Testosterone has an additive effect, while estrogen has a multiplicitive effect. When in small group settings, it is very possible to do gender neutral activities because the effects roughly work at the same magnitude in small quantities, thus making the overall T/E ratio roughly 1. However, when you get into large groups, in order to do activities that can be deemed gender neutral, the number of males must SIGNIFICANTLY outnumber the number of females.
10 males and 3 females: you can end up doing basically anything.
10 females and 3 males: you will end up at the mall.

In very large group settings ie, like 40 males and 40 females, the activities will almost certainly tilt in the vaggy direction. This comes particularly into play in very large settings, like weddings.

Aliens watch Earth. We are their reality show. They find our everday lives to be hilariously entertaining from world politics to that car wreck you got in last year. They don't dare contact us because that would screw up everything.

[/ QUOTE ]

from stop making sense, talking heads: "THE SPACE PEOPLE. Space People read our mail. The Space People think that TV news programs are comedies, and that soap operas are news. The Space People will contact us when they can make money by doing so. The Space People think factories are musical instruments. They sing along with them. Each song lasts from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. No music on weekends.""

crazy.

I have this theory that it should be possible for us to recall everything that's happened to us since our memory is so vast. we just haven't figured out how yet. I also think humans are capable of incredible mental strength but we don't need to use our brains for that much so we don't exercise it.
