[ QUOTE ]
At least in this room you talk to the HEAD HOUNCHO about this problem. Try doing that in other rooms. Do you think Howard could sit and talk to the heads in say: The Bellagio ( I play there often but doubt Mr. D would talk about this problem) At Mandalay Howard might be BANNED FOR LIFE just for asking to talk abuot this. Ceasers, FOR GET IT. Mirage, umm maybe. Wynn, might be close. Anyway, this was a bad deal for Howard. I will talk to Lee about it today and let Mr. H (bbq king of Las Vegas) know what is said.---- [/ QUOTE ] As much as I am getting sick of your constant Venetian pimping, this post is actually pretty accurate. Mandalay I stopped playing at a long time ago for this reason. Donna Harris has literally told players "don't tell me how to run my room", even recently. No chance of talking to Doug. Deborah will talk to you, but isn't likely to change anything she doesn't agree with no matter what. I don't know about Caesars. |

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Quite honestly I think you might be a little out of touch with the reality of Low Limit (and low buy in NL)and low buy in tournament play in tourist rooms. [/ QUOTE ] It's interesting how often someone tells me I'm a little out of touch. Are you by any chance associated with Bluff magazine? They seem to think that I don't have a clue either. MM [/ QUOTE ] I'm not associated with any magazine. I don't think I've ever read Bluff Magazine. I'm not saying you don't have a clue. I'm certainly not trying to disrespect you. I'm just saying that when I read what you say about poker it may be entirely relevant to High Limit poker, or maybe poker somewhere other than Vegas, but it doesn't seem relevant to the reality of what low limit poker in Vegas is today. |

Clarkster----
Sorry you take my post as "PIMPING" the Venetian. I do push new and old rooms I think are worth playing. I very seldom say anything about the bad rooms. They get enough -EV on thier own. I get nothing in return from the "V" for "PIMPING" the room other then getting new players to try it. When they try the room, I make money. Don O. |

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] let four people play 5-10 NL for no rake as long as they took care of my dealers(and they did) [/ QUOTE ] If you would have said something like this to me, I don't think you would like the response. This is just shameful. I tip a dealer because they do their job well. If they do their job poorly they get nothing. The same goes for floor people who enforce policies like this. MM [/ QUOTE ] Mason, while I agree that dealers should be compensated based on their service level, wouldn't no rake be more money in your pocket with taking care of the dealer (which you're likely going to do anyway) than paying the rake as well? Even if you "up" the tips a bit in this situation, I would think it would still be less of a contribution than you'd pay in rake. |

[ QUOTE ]
Hi VORP: [ QUOTE ] People who aren't sure how much they can bet on the turn in a 2/4 game aren't not tipping because they have a problem with the dealer. [/ QUOTE ] That's fine, but some people in these games tip far more than many high limit players. Which would you rather deal, a low limit hold 'em game, or a high limit stud game? I happen to know the correct answer, and its not close. Best wishes, Mason [/ QUOTE ] Yes, a number of lower limit players tip well, but IME most are not playing 2/4. Most of my income comes from the other games I deal, 2/4 just comes with the territory. Look at the overall quality of dealing at Excalibur vs Bellagio or Wynn. I think this shows pretty well what games the better dealers in town would like to deal. |

There are a lot of dealers that can be good dealers that choose not becasue they are in games where the players don't insist on it (and might even pay extra to have the dealers do a bad job). I remember once (a long time ago) delaing in the first room I worked in a player complained to the floor that I didn't talk or tell any jokes like the other dealers. |

Don,
"I get nothing in return from the "V" for "PIMPING" the room other then getting new players to try it. When they try the room, I make money." So, what you're saying is, you make money from pimping the room? |

Then when you said "I reserve the right to tip or not". I as the floorman would say " then pay the rake, SIR".
I would be very happy with the original deal. |

[ QUOTE ]
You're taking this way out of context I didn't stand and watch to see that they were tipping so I wouldn't know if they weren't tipping and I don't care, if they don't tip they don't tip. I was just trying to help the dealers. Grave shift is tough they never get all their hours and alot of people don't tip. I came from Atlantic city where I could never had said that. But wished I could sometimes. [/ QUOTE ] I think you are right. I would keep saying it and the only people that would object are local nits. |
