Don't underestimate the Astros. They will be right there at the end and more than likely be in the playoffs. Right now I see it being the Cards and the Astros coming out of the NL central (either team might finish as the wild card), the Mets in the east, and the Rockies in the west.

I keep telling myself that LaRussa must know something about J-Rod to keep yanking him around, but I can never quite bring myself to believe it. [/ QUOTE ] LaRussa sucks. Period. |

Is anyone else happy that Rincon is out for the season?
I just pictured LaRussa overmanaging and using this washed up lefty like he used Fassero solid win yesterday---JRod being a solid #2 in the lineup The Edmonds interview after the game was pretty interesting talk of shooting guns and how he doesn't feel that he's playing much better than he was at the start of the year. He might have even said variance, but I probably just paraphrased that in. |

Carpenter has terrible luck! In the six games that he has not gotten the win he has given up a total of seven earned runs. Four of those earned runs were in one of his losses. The other five games he has given up a total of three earned runs without a win. With any run support he would be 8-1 and a Cy Young candidate. His other loss he gave up four earned runs in six innings.

Just started watching the game tonight against the Mets and I already have a few questions for LaRussa.
1. Why is Encarnacion hitting in front of Edmonds? Edmonds is our hottest hitter right now. I really don't care that Glavine is left handed. Edmonds OPS over the last three years against righties is 1.006 and against lefties it is 0.959. 2. Why does LaRussas seem insistent on platooing Rodriguez, he's not in the game tonight against Glavine? His numbers against lefties are basically identical to his number against righties. 3. I was glad to see Hector Luna playing again tonight until I saw him batting eighth behind Bennett.WTF? Luna has an OPS this year of 0.829 to Bennett's pitiful 0.552. How can he possibly justify batting Luna that far down in the order? edit: Just wanted to add that as of right now only two player on the cards have hits..Edmonds and Luna. |

ALBERT....................... 44 games - 21 Home Runs and 53 RBI's! I am very surprised he is being pitched to!

He's got a great chance at being the natural single season homerun champ.

Hopefully Carpenter is ok, the bullpen looked pretty good today. Another series win, Wainright homering on the first pitch in his first MLB AB was very impressive.
